Villa Marquez

Great BUT Villa Marquez is extremely clean thanks to housekeeping (10*), staff are very professional, kind, and attentive, kitchenette is great to meet people of different cultures. It has 2 refrigerators, a microwave, dishes/silverware, and sink. The balcony gives superb view of river, town, and lighthouse. My room had a oversized bed which made the room very small. The bathroom was private and very clean. For security there is a keypad to enter a code to open the entry door. The huge drawback is the extreme noise level. The office is on the ground floor, I was on 1st floor, kitchenette on 3rd floor. I could hear bathroom noise from the next to mine, the room above had a chair that was dragged on the floor waking me in the process, dragging chairs from the kitchenette was also loud and bothersome, people walking on the floors were loud, and entry/exit of the front door were loud and bothersome.

Other than the shower size I really enjoyed it. The staff were great and always helpful

Delightful little traditional guest house! Really enjoyed our stay in this traditional little guest house right in the centre of the lovely border town of Vila Real de S. Antonio. Only 5 minutes on foot to the Spanish ferry, 20 mins from the train station and in a quiet street just off the bustling main square. The building is in the old town so not luxurious but it’s been beautifully maintained and has a restful ambiance - felt at home right away. The small room was impeccably clean, tastefully decorated & even had a good range of TV channels. The bathroom was very small but we managed fine (and we’re 75) though if you had disability or weight issues it could be a problem. We really loved the roof terrace, had our breakfast there, where the hosts have thoughtfully provided a mini kitchen for guests use. Ticked all my boxes and will definitely return!!

Friendly family run and spotless guesthouse Villa Marquez demonstrates perfect Portuguese hospitality. Everyone was friendly and helpful. They showed great patience as I tried out my Portuguese with them but they do speak good English as well. They offered good restaurant recommendations and advice about public transport. The guesthouse was really clean and tidy and the rooftop terrace is a great treat. They don’t serve breakfast but there are several lovely cafés nearby so that wasn’t a problem. It was nice to be out and about so early mixing with the locals. I’d highly recommend Villa Marquez for a stay in this undiscovered part of the Algarve.

Great amazing friendly place I loved to stay here, will definitely stay every time I go to the zone. From the beginning was perfect, arrived too early (10am) to check in and they were really nice and since the room was already ready they allowed us to go to it straight away when he didn't had to (check in was at 3pm). This saved us from walking around with our bags for 5h. The owner and staff are also really good people, always ready to help and even give good tips for the holiday. Amazing cozy place at the top with a big balcony, perfect to bring food and eating there, wonderful view and very peaceful at any time of the day or night, it's almost like a private heaven. If I could give a bigger rating I would. Thank you to everyone for a great perfect stay. I'll be back soon 😀
