Victorian Inn in the middle of Victoria. Old turn of the century charm with modern conveniences. Lots of stairs. Fabulous breakfast in the morning!

Lovely Victorian experience in a beautiful old home. Comfy beds. Great breakfast. Quiet. Walking the area is beautiful as lots of lovely estate properties to see.

There were limited staff on hand. We left our luggage before check in time. We were given a key to the front door. When we returned at 6 pm the lobby was empty. We had to shout to get someone to attend to us. We eventually got taken to a room in the attic. Being 6 ft 5 in the sloping roof made it uncomfortable. In good accommodation they see my height and put me in a room with suitable ceilings.
There was no info on how to log into the Wi-Fi
The hotel interior looks grand and the breakfast was good

LOW LOW LOW CEILING
There was nothing in the booking or the photos pointing out that you need to be hunched over all the time
If you are 3 feet or taller you can stand up straight
Our room was advertised as QUEEN or King and it was a Double
There are NO ELEVATORS and YOU HAVE TO carry your own luggage up 3 floors

The Amethyst Inn is an old house which has been somewhat restored to it’s original grandeur, but the place is permeated with a sense of neglect and the staff’s disinterest in maintaining the hotel and its services. The hotel’s compound is littered with trash and carboard boxes, the lawns are not maintained, and the carpentry is in dire need of repair in many places. The receptionist who showed us to our room seemed more interested in looking at her phone, and she did not provide us with the wifi code. Incidentally, there is no wifi for guests in the room. There was no house keeping, so rooms were as we had left them in the morning. Breakfast was OK, however we were not told what was on the menu nor if there were dishes we would like to skip. We are definitely not recommending this place and will not be back.
