Tru by Hilton Binghamton Vestal

A friendly welcome from the lady on the reception desk who even asked us what our room preference would be - high floor, away from the road etc. A welcome first in America on our recent trip! Lobby area is communal with nice facilities and is bright and welcoming. Rooms are clean, modern and fresh. Amenities in room were good quality. Tiniest issues were the sink was backing up with water and tissues were empty. Apart from that, a really good stay.

Let’s be honest, you don’t stay in Vestal because of their fine dining and hotel options. More likely, you just want a nights sleep. On this scale Tru is similar to the Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn Express on the same “*****”. Having said that, Tru’s rooms are smaller. Okay, for two adults, for one night…if you have a couple of children in the room it is going to be cramped. The bed was comfortable and the large TV was appreciated, unlike the other two properties where the TV’s did not work properly. There is no coffee maker in the room but hot coffee was available in the lobby. The fire alarm went off around 6:30, no fire, but not exactly how you want to walk-up. Breakfast ends at 9am, it was mediocre at best.

The best hotel in Vestal by far. Gorgeous cool comfortable lobby - modern with plenty of space to hang out. Free coffee tea hot chocolate 24 hours. Very clean and modern lobby and room. Comfortable bed. Great that they have refillable bottles that dispense body lotion, soap, conditioner, shampoo. Cuts down on plastic waste. Will be a problem for anyone with limited strength in hands or arthritis because you have to squeeze the bottles hard to dispense product. Delicious breakfast. Free charging for my EV so that I can make it home without stopping. Only two chargers so a bit competitive. Definitely need another two to accommodate. Did I mention free charging. So glad I stayed here after staying in some questionable hotels in Vestal/Binghamton. This will the only hotel I will stay in now.

The young lad who checked us in was so good!!! He offered advice when we asked him about the area and was very polite and helpful. The hotel is tastefully decorated as are the rooms. We had 2 rooms both with 2 queen beds in each. Very comfortable! During the night around midnight we heard a very loud drip noise about every 8 seconds. It was inside our bathroom wall on the aisle side. We weren't sure what caused it. Also, our toilet moved every time you sat on it. The Lobby area had a pool table and a large assortment of games to play. Breakfast had a huge selection to choose from and very tasty and well looked after! This hotel is just down the street from the University.

Similar to other reviews here, hotel is fine but the staff is horrible. The front desk employee couldn’t make eye contact and didn’t want to answer any questions. Breakfast was standard Hilton fare, but it wasn’t maintained by staff and offerings remained empty for too long before they were refilled. The coffee in the lobby was room temperature in the afternoon, so they clearly make it early in the day and don’t maintain it. I had to contact the manager after my stay regarding a billing issue and she had the sass of a emo teenager There are much better choices in the Binghamton area that actually value their guests.

Not my speed. Won't be back. Front Desk: Guys who work the front desk avoid eye contact with customers at all costs. You must initiate any conversation when standing at the front desk or be ignored. Rooms: Rooms are spartan - no closet, no dressers, no carpeting, no coffee. Half the lights in the room didn't operate. Since there is no carpeting, all I could hear all night was the person above me walking or jumping up and down - I couldn't tell the difference. Tru apparently only sends housekeeping every other day (for your convenience according to them). I asked them to send housekeeping after our first night. They cleaned but didn't replace the towels. They only left the towels that were not used. Breakfast: 1st breakfast, there were no eggs. Had to notify them and then wait 10 minutes for them to replenish. 2nd breakfast there was no coffee or pancakes as they were both empty. There is simply no-one watching the breakfast. They wait for you to notify them, then wait for as long as it take the 1 guy working there to replenish. Breakfast is already hilariously slim pickings but this makes it virtually pointless.
