Wonderfully special experience staying two nights at this historic and beautiful property near the grounds and gate to the palace of Versailles. Our check-in host (forgot her name but she was a young warm and friendly hostess with long brown hair) made us feel welcomed for our special occasion. We got upgraded to a mansard room in the Trianon Palace building with views of the main entrance gate and the actual Palace of Versailles from our window. Simply beautiful view. Breakfast was delicious and with ample choices and the breakfast room was beautiful with views of the grounds and many birds outside including green parrots. The staff was attentive and warm. Evening cocktails outside on the terrace was simply lovely. The heated pool was nice and the lifeguard was a very kind young man. The pool could use some very soft background music though and perhaps softer lighting. Apart from the obvious must-visit Palace of Versailles within 5-10 minutes, there are lovely treed allées all around and the town/city of Versailles is quaint and has many shops and restaurants. We absolutely loved Lafayette by Pincemin for an incredible bistronomique dinner! Also, we went twice to the Le Boeuf à la Mode restaurant for lunch. It was affordable, delicious, nice people watching on the terrace and warm service. The nearby Notre Dame outdoor market was great for Portuguese pastry desserts too.
