I have been here since October 2019. I love this place they have been a Godsend to me. They treat me as a member of their family. Everyone here is so professional and friendly even when I wish they weren't.(HA) I enjoy staying here and have for the last 90 days. The location, building, and team make me want for nothing. Having social anxiety makes dealing with large groups of people a challenge. Things like loud noises, random people standing around, only heighten that insecurity. This hotel has everything I could possible need. It is clean, quiet, does not smell funky, the rooms are large, have everything you could want and give me a small since of peace and calm in a otherwise loud world. Having read a lot of reviews both positive and negative I want to cover some things to help the next person. 1. Yes people drink here and they drink out front minding THEIR OWN business // 2. People smoke in their rooms not right but having stayed at the Ritz multiple times they smoke in their rooms as well usually drugs not cigarettes // 3. People smoke out front of the building // 4. People don't put their cigarettes butts where they should (same thing at the Ritz) //5. Breakfast (that's free) is just that, its coffee, muffins, oatmeal etc their is a Denny's literally a mile away or use the kitchen in the rooms and they have pans at the front desk with plates and silverware // 6. Is it difficult to find? Yes which makes it awesome for those that don't want a lot of noise or traffic // Here is a fun fact”” Sun Tzu once wrote ” Know your enemy”” If you are upset about these things realize this. In the name ”Extended Stay America” the key phrase is Extended Stay. Many people like myself live in this hotel some by circumstances and some by choice and some by both. This is a home or a home away from home for many others like truck drivers, military personnel, government employees, and people way smarter then me. If you cant understand what that means please stay at a full service hotel that will give you the ability to be a number rather then a person. Their are many near here. Ashley, Sunshine, and the rest of the team from maintenance to housekeepers are amazing, they are nice, cordial, smile, and every time I have asked for anything they have responded with out question. No rolling of the eyes, or behaved in a less then hospitable way on top of which they will allow lonely people to rattle at them with smiles on their faces and as I have witnessed you can ” Hit their cars in the parking lot and as long as you are honest and truthful and not an ass you can continue to be part of their family” I personally want to say a huge Thank You to the team at Extended Stay Chicago Vernon Hills Lake Forest. My only complaint which Sunshine is aware is the inconsistent nature of the internet, it drops from time to time.

The hotel did not have our *********** reservation when we arrived. But strangely they were able to register us without asking for our names... I guess they did not want to pay the fee. The room was spacious and clean for most of it. However, the couch was covered in animal hair. I asked for it to be cleaned but nothing happened. I don't know where the information got stuck, but this is not acceptable. The area is quiet which is nice. Air conditionning in the common areas was too high. If they don't care about the planet, they should think about the savings... Breakfast was fine.

My husband & I were in the north suburbs for 2 weeks, and chose this long-term stay hotel because of its optimal location for our purposes. I am extremely ambivalent about it. On the one hand, we got a clean, well-located room with a kitchenette for a very reasonable price. There is also a nice guest laundry facility with six washers and six dryers. On the other hand, there were a lot of glitches. 1) At the time of reserving, we requested a first-floor room; we did not get one, even though the hotel was clearly not full. 2) The so-called ”fully equipped kitchen” -- unlike any other long-term stay hotel we've ever stayed in -- did not provide pots & pans, or dishes. If I had known this before we left home, I could have brought these items from home. 3) Our bathroom sink clogged up almost immediately, and we were told that there was no maintenance person (”we're trying to hire one”). We were further told that, due to budget constraints, they could not call in an emergency plumber (this was on a weekend), so I got a plunger and a bottle of drain cleaner from the front desk clerk, and went to work on it myself. It took 24 hours for the drain cleaner to open the clog. 4) The bathroom toilet clogged twice; the first time, I was able to resolve it with the borrowed plunger, but the second time they told us we would simply have to move to another room. As we had a lot of stuff, this took us 2 hours, even tho the new room was just a few doors away. 5) The guest wi-fi was weak in the first room, and nonexistent in the second. We also had minimal phone reception in the second room, so couldn't even hot-spot; I had to sit in the lobby with my computer to accomplish anything online. If it were not for the wonderful location, I would have given this hotel 2 stars rather than 3.

Decided to stay here last minute rather than risk violating Chicago’s curfew (9:00 p.m.). Reviewed their website before booking and was impressed by their protocol for addressing cleaning COVID-19 issues — touchless check in, etc. I booked online but directly with IHG (not through a third-party) and payed full price. Wearing a face covering, I at the property and found that none of the claims on their website re: COVID-19 protocols were true. No touchless checkin. Two women were working the small reception area — neither one wore a mask. And, although they had my information from my reservation / booking, they required me to fill out two forms while they were some two to three feet away. It was after 11:00 p.m. and searching another hotel at that hour presented other risks. So, I stayed — hoping for the best. Didn’t notice a single precaution in the room. I could go on but you get the point. As I walked into the lobby to check out the next morning (again, wearing a mask), I asked the woman working at reception what their policy was re: face coverings. She looked at and me and assured me that, yes, they were face coverings — as she pulled one from her face and put it on. NOTE: I am not writing this review to be critical of the individuals I encountered working at the property. They are trying to get by like everyone else. The problem here is that the policies advertised on the website either don’t exist or aren’t properly implemented / enforced.
