This is my first negative review, ever! Travelers, beware, because there are better hotels in Vernal at half the price. Here's our experience in brief. When checking in, I explained to the attendant that good internet was critical to us and was assured that, while it wasn't dependable in daytime it was "solid" at night. It was 4 PM, so that was fine. Spent the evening reconnecting (and I'm not exaggerating here) 60 times, never having a sustained connection for more than 6 or 7 minutes, mostly immediate disconnects There was no one on duty who seemed capable of helping (I tried). To add insult to injury, it was a 96 degree day in Vernal, and our unit (#321) was 74 upon arrival, and took an hour to get to 72 where it stayed. We had it set for 68, which the thermostat allowed, but 72 was all it would go. That meant no bedcovers for a hot sleeper. This, from Vernal's (and Marriott's) "finest." I spoke with several people about these issues upon checkout but they all referred me to the manager (who wasn't working). They were all pleasant, but unhelpful. I just wanted them to know the internet wasn't working and the AC wasn't either, a thing you do to alert them. They all referred me to talk with the manager, and gave me a card. I called 2 days later after arriving home (which they suggested I do). The manager (April) listened to my brief review and said "I'll look into this and get back to you within an hour." Seven hours later she called, telling me I was wrong about the internet ("We had no one else complain" -- thereby discounting our experience entirely) and "we are so close to California that we restrict our AC to save energy." Yes, honest, she said that. Proximity to California = an ecosensitivity by Marriott. Really, she said that. So . . . 72 degrees at night. But here's the kicker: she offered me $10 to "compensate" us. Really. I wasn't looking for a rebate (our night was $275), but that's such an insult, and she was such an officious, corporate voice that her $10 triggered this review. I like Marriott. We stay at other Mariotts. I don't write critical reviews of hotels or restaurants or resorts. But this hotel is low grade. Stay away. There's a Holiday Inn close by.
