The location is good and the hotel is just fine. Need some renovation around the path leading to beach. Many opt for this location for ease of access to beaches, if that is not maintained it will lead to disappointment.
The SPA is not per the expectation and the maintenance of the spa is very bad. Food is above average. The buffet breakfast is fine but lacks variety for those staying longer. Overall it was a good experience. The attender at the pool Mr. Babu is very good, he should be awarded for his fine service. Overall the hotel staff are polite and well mannered and hear to our concerns.

Excellent Hotel with excellent services. The managers and staffs kept us very comfortable and most importantly accommodated to our toddlers meals during the stay. Very beautiful view as very peaceful hotel!

We stayed in Gateway Varkala for 2 days, checkin & checkout process was seemless. Rooms were neat and clean, was spacious. Special mention to the staff: Mr. Sudeep guided us throughout our stay for travel in & around varkala very hospitable & humble and catered to all our needs. Mr. Sibin from the restaurant staff who took care of us in the restaurant and helped us select the right food options Mr. Reji for handling our baggage with utmost care. Highly recommended for stay!!!

The place was serene and beautiful, warmth and staff was very courteous, well kept property. We were welcomed properly but kids were expecting some fun in terms of welcome goodies being Taj group of hotels. That being said the food that was offered was good but veg options for meals were a bit limited. But one can always request on demand. Worth a visit !

Great sea view only to realise the beach is 1km walk in public road. Very friendly staff, had some good interaction at diner and with Mr Sudip helped with a day trip. The ugly part, rooms are old, breakfast at best very ordinary coffee machine non operational food menu is very limited but quality food.

Very nicely setup in front of the sea, the staff and food is great. very accessible to nearby beach and cliff just 5-10 mins away. The sea facing rooms are the best ones. There are some indoor games available too so you can enjoy your time in side the resort too

Our stay at Gateway Varkala was disappointing. The property feels outdated and poorly maintained, with a noticeable need for a revamp across dining areas, rooms, and common spaces. The experience was more on par with a budget hotel, and definitely not worth the 19k we were charged, which felt unjustified given the lack of ambiance and upkeep. The only highlight of our stay was Mr. Sudeep GS from the security team. His warm and courteous demeanor truly stood out, and he was more helpful and attentive than any of the hotel management. He guided us with local recommendations and ensured we felt welcomed—qualities that the rest of the hotel staff could learn from. Overall, the management should take note of Sudeep’s dedication and consider him for a more prominent role. He’s the one bright spot in an otherwise lackluster experience.
