Staying at the El Capitan Hotel was an unexpectedly rewarding experience. This charming and elegant boutique hotel offers an unbeatable value – if it were located in a major city, it would easily command rates of $450 or more per night. What sets this hotel apart are the small but significant details that often go overlooked. The plush towels, mattresses, and pillows reflect a level of care you typically find in luxury hotels like the Ritz-Carlton or JW Marriott. The towels, in particular, are a true testament to how much the owners love their property. The hotel is beautifully maintained, from the well-kept garden and surrounding grounds to the immaculate building itself. It’s clear that the owners are deeply invested in the quality and upkeep of this hidden gem. I highly recommend El Capitan to anyone seeking an exceptional stay without the luxury price tag.

Très bel hôtel. Il est beau et le patio est superbe ! Belle chambre. Services top, dont une machine à laver. Chambre pas forcément grande mais pratique. Lit très confortable on a passé une très bonne nuit ! Un bémol peut etre; le petit-déjeuner est très bof. Prix très compétitif pr les usa. Franchement une excellente étape !

Thankfully the hotel is pet friendly. Was very happy with stay over services. Thank you to all the housekeepers. And it is also part of Stash Rewards, which means I will get a free stay after building up my Stash Rewards. For each stay I earn points. The courtyard is lovely.

For several years we have past by this historic Hotel on our journeys to Arizona and California from Central Texas where we live. We finally booked a room on our return home. This is truly a lovely hotel, from its colorful history to the room decoration and the wonderful staff. They have a lovely restaurant that many locals come to eat at. There is indoor seating and a wonderful outdoor seating in the courtyard. Breakfast was included as well. I highly recommend if you are traveling on the 10 freeway heading east or west, that you stop by for a wonderful night sleep as we had orca great meal and a good cup of coffee at this historical Hotel.

We drive to southern CA several times a year to visit family. Hotel El Capitan is always a destination in Van Horn both going out and coming back. Love the place, love the service and love the vibe. This time we got the Corner suite on 2nd floor. Always a good pick. The bar is a great mix of locals and visitors.

Absolutely charming 1930’s era hotel, sensitively updated. The lush courtyard and beautiful fountain swept away the exhaustion and brain fog of our 10 hour drive. Lobby is a time portal. I just missed Don Ameche. Our room with patio was a gem. Old school glamour there. Freshly-made real food came out of the kitchen. Hard-working staff is friendly and efficient. Good people. Dogs welcome. Vegan adaptable. We felt welcome here and I hope you will too. Oh, if you see Mr. Ameche please get his autograph for me.

This is my 6th time to stay here. It is definitely an "Oasis" I look forward to each trip. My wife's family and aging parents live in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico and we love to stay here either going or returning to our home in Fort Worth, TX. I also backcountry wilderness hike at Guadalupe Mountains National Park and make it a point to spend at least one night here before returning home. As a custom home builder/remodeler, I love the historical restoration details, dining on the wonderful courtyard, the cozy, bright and comfy rooms, the nice gift shop, and the attentive staff. I give it a "5" on all areas!

We were on a long road trip and chose Hotel El Capitan to spend the night. What a delightful surprise it was. It is a charming and inviting oasis along Highway 10 in Van Horn, Texas. Easy free parking, a beautiful enchanting courtyard and a welcoming staff at the front desk. The restoration and history of this venue is nicely done. Our room overlooked the courtyard, and even though we arrived late, the dining room offered a wonderful dinner. We had an early departure and enjoyed the complimentary breakfast buffet. The Hotel has a great gift shop and book store where you can buy local and unusual items-everything from food to gifts. We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel El Capitan and thanks to all the staff, from the front desk to the bartender and servers.

Historisches Hotel das sehr stilvoll renoviert wurde. Gediegene Möbel, alles in gutem Zustand, sauber, viele elektrische Anschlüsse, sehr gutes WiFi. Schöne und weitläufige Lounge. Essen im Restaurant sehr gut und preiswert. Gutes Frühstück. Perfekter Ort zum Übernachten auf einer Reise von Ost nach West (oder umgekehrt).
