Araucaria Hotel Boutique

To be fair, the place had very nice design, a good location, a nice pool and hot tub, and a good view of the city and reservoir. Getting there on the one way road system is a bit hair raising but we arrived safe and sound and the staff lead us to a parking space. There they left us to carry our bags up two flights of stairs. They didn't provide that service. Ok. We moved into our very nice room with a balcony and view of the City and thought life is good. Our controller didn't work and the night guard pulled out a 1/2 dozen more that didn't match work or even match out TV brand. Ok, never mind. Upon returning for dinner, our countertops were covered with roaches which had made their way into some of our bags. We showed the night clerk and he moved us into another smaller room. Again, it was nicely appointed. Just one thing, it was on the road and noisy till the wee hours of the morning and then again once the City woke up. If they paid me to stay in the room, I wouldn't do it. In the morning, I checked with the manager to see if he know the story. He offered us free omelets to make it up to us. I told him that since the room they moved us into was $60 less, they could just refund us the difference and that would set it right with us. But they wouldn't refund the money. They took our money at the hotel, but they told us had to get our refund through Bookings.com. The staff can generously be described as indifferent. There were no smiles or greetings, just staff trudging through the motions. I think the rooms away from the street are quieter but that's just a guest. If you're unfortunate enough to find yourself here, go for one of those.
