Travelodge Stansted Great Dunmow

On arrival, we gathered that the hotel itself is situated in an industrial area which in itself is rather unappealing. Laura at reception was very friendly and informative, but that's about it for the positives; when we have previously stayed at this hotel, we have had some very rude and dismissive receptionists. We were given a room on the ground floor with a large double bed and 3 fold-out singles. Not sure about the double, but the singles are VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. I probably got about 4 hours of sleep when there was potential for 8 or 9. In the bathroom, there is dirt and limescale everywhere and no hand-wash in the dispenser, had to use the cheap shower gel instead. No hairdryer in the room either, and no batteries in the TV remote. If you are looking for a hotel near stansted airport which is clean, comfortable and offers basic amenities, don't come here. I recommend going closer to the airport and opting for the Hampton by Hilton or Novotel. To be honest, the premier inn is way nicer than this Travelodge. All of the other hotels have been refurbished, but this travelodge still has the unwelcoming old design, it's just not meeting the local standard. Basically just avoid this place at all costs.

We booked a twin room for both me and my elderly mother who is 78. The beds were too small (smaller than a standard single bed) and too low to the ground. Unfortunately my mother fell out of the bed during the night. Thankfully she didn't injure herself. Also the duvet was disgusting, we have never seen anything so dirty and badly stained.

An old and tired building that backs onto a busy mechanics/building works. No air con in rooms. Staff were very helpful and friendly so no complaints

Lovely staff but room was not clean , only 1 towel for 2 people and not even half a toilet roll. Splash marks up the walls and no response to my email I’m not usually one to complain but we stayed there as we attended a wedding 💒. Stained bed sheets should be thrown away. Would like a partial refund

The hotel is easy to find and clean. Just what you would expect from a Travelodge. However, we were in a room at the back of the hotel, opposite a car garage. We were woken around 7/7:30 by them working. If you’re using it as a base for the airport and leaving early morning, this may not be an issue. However we had been to the racecourse for a concert and didn’t get back u til early hours, so that was a bit too early for us. If you’re asked what room you’d like I would recommend asking for one at the front of the hotel.

Room wasn’t touched in a 4 night stay So same towels Food isn’t fit for consumption, no wonder the staff don’t ask how the food was, they just take your plate, Go to the kicking dickey for food a ten minute walk,here you will get nice home cooked food, Red hot rooms with a small fan,
