Utila Lodge

I did not go to Utila, but I sure want to... I made a reservation in March for a week's stay in June. I did this through a third-party booking site. I tried to contact someone at the lodge starting May 7th to get details regarding my stay. I emailed Rebecca Engel. Not response. I tried calling a few times, nothing. Four days later I emailed again. Then I was told by doctor that I would have to have surgery and would need to change date of trip. The booking site said I was able to make one date change before May 31st. I could not get a response from Utila Lodge, so I sent a change request through the booking site. They responded! They canceled my booking and Rebecca called me. I didn't want a complete cancellation and Rebecca said there was space for me February 3 -10 2024. Great! But since then I have received no word. I have left multiple messages asking for a call or email. I needed confirmation, payment info etc. I really wanted to get this confirmation before changing my flights. Apparently they are ignoring me hoping I will go away. I feel this is because I am a solo traveler and they are more worried about bigger profits. Whatever the reason may be, some kind of response is called for. I had already spent a thousand bucks on flights and they won't even speak with me. They are just hoping I will go away apparently. Really, quite cruel.

This hotel is comfortable with a very attentive staff. Coffee is delivered to your room each morning. The diving leaves just steps away and is super convenient. The food is very good. The village is also steps away. The detractor is that there is a party venue nearby with loud music until 1am - 4am on weekends. White noise, sleeping aides and ear plugs help, but if you are a light sleeper, prepare to be kept up. I would recommend staying away from the town center.

Will be back. Enjoyed the whole experience, food, drinks, friendly but not hovering staff. Coffee delivered daily to our room was a beautiful touch💕. Location is ideal as the hotel is situated in the middle of town and adjacent to the dive college.

Adequate accommodations. The pictures shown do not depict accurately how the rooms look. The rooms are dark, old, mismatched and don't feel quite clean. The breakfast included is not very good. Inconsistent internet connection. Ok water view from enclosed porch. Terribly uncomfortable hammocks. Nice pier in the back. Close to ferry terminal. Staff looked bored and indifferent.

Absolutely the best dive vacation we’ve ever done and so reasonable. The owners and staff bend over backwards to make your stay phenomenal. Lovely accommodations out over the water, excellent food, a fun and really friendly bar scene are all great but the real star is the diving. We did 17 different dives all around the island, every one different and the staff managed all our gear and assured we had a wonderful and safe time.
