New Years
Stayed for a couple of nights over New Years and had a great stay. Would highly recommend. Food was also excellent

I'm a local resident and haven't been to the kings for some time so I thought we'd give it a go on Thursday (date night) During the COVID period there were some alterations made mainly to the entrance hallway and to the right as u walk In. The new modern framework with the glass panels spoil the whole feeling of such an old pub. As you go inside you can feel the charm and age of the pub. Lovely open fire and loads of history items on the walls. We were served by a polite barman shortly after our order was taken. Food arrived in a reasonable time and from that moment on I was quickly reminded why we hadn't been here for so long. 🤦 My chicken curry huge portion but was so bland and all you could really taste was the powder that the curry was obviously made from no presentation attempt just plain rice no garnish . But hay ho the chips were v good Missed had sea bass and chips that was average but ok. 🤷 Real shame as it's a lovely old venue with heaps of charm , history and polite staff. The food was a huge let down.

This family lunchtime visit was to celebrate my middle sisters' birthday. We all had means, however, I was the only one to order the curry. Apparently, the curry is one of their best-selling meals and is rated by everyone that eats it. I have eaten pub curries around the world and I have to admit, this was the worst curry it was my misfortune to have eaten. I also eat curries in Wetherspoon pubs, which are not noted for the best cuisine. This particular pub curry had no taste whatsoever, to the point I had to add a lot of salt to the meal (I don't like to add salt to any meals) and even after salt was added, there was still no taste. I quietly mentioned to the manager that the curry was like a stew. He replied that no one had ever complained before, which was irrelevant to my complaint. At £14.99, it was not worth the money and I believe I should not have been charged for the meal. All six of us mentioned just how cold it was, whilst eating our meals. Maybe The Kings Head do not appreciate their customers (my sister lives in the village and uses the pub all the time and I have lost count of how many family occasions we have eaten here)? I'm very disappointed with the food and the manager's total lack of empathy.
