easy access from Interstate 80. Well done renovation with freshened rooms. Attached restaurant was a bit understaffed and overwhelmed though the food was good. Were told there would be a 45 minute wait for a table. We sat at the bar and had menus in our hands within 5 minutes. If there was any improvement to be made it would be in breakfast offering. Only a full buffet was available, no cold buffet or light breakfast.

This is an excellent hotel. We had a great experience. Nolan and Brenda were personable, professional and especially helpful. Our room was very nice with an excellent rate. The restaurant staff and food were great, too. We will definitely stay here again.

Disgusting. Smelly rooms elevators that do not work. Stay away. Smells like smoke all over the place and in the rooms. Ac shifts off. Bathrooms so cramped. Would never suggest anyone with a family stay at this specific location. The rooms are so small. They are not spacious at all.. .

The check in process was slow and chaotic. The carpet in the room was not clean and the shower had long hairs in the tub. The room door would not close. The hotel has a smoking area outside the hotel which is very near hotel rooms. Smokers congregate early in the morning (6:00 am) and they make a lot of noise waking hotel guests. This hotel was a major disappointment.

My family (including a baby) were traveling west and stopped at the Holiday Inn in Des Moines along the way. The staff was friendly, and the room was comfortable and quiet. You could tell it was a bit older, but still very nice. We ordered from the restaurant, which was decent. I would not recommend it unless you wanted to stay close to the property for the evening. There are better options if you venture out a bit. I did experience an issue during my stay. Around 4 AM, while I was caring for my infant daughter I saw a mouse in our room. I went down to the front desk and alerted staff of the issue, and they informed me they encountered the issue on two other occasions primarily on the second and third floors. They offered to move us to another room, which we did. We were also offered free breakfast coupon, money off our bill, and additional rewards points. We did not receive the additional money off the bill or rewards points. After contacting the hotel about it, I did not receive a response. Overall, the hotel was quiet, comfortable and staff was friendly. However, I cannot recommend staying here until the rodent issue is handled.

Great stay at Holiday Inn Urbandale. Room was clean and comfortable. Had a meeting at hotel and Jose was amazing. Every detailed covered and had several compliments from attendees. Benihana food was terrific. Loved Ruben Fritters. Services's outstanding as well. Will use this hotel again.

Driving for 10 hours and I get to this hotel. I walk in and I’m the only guest in the lobby. Front desk is on the phone and the manager is sitting down telling how to get thru the call. I patiently wait as this goes on, probably a full minute. I’m Hispanic, 2 white guests walk in and the manager springs up asking how she could help. I stayed looking at her and she finally acknowledged me. Never again.

5 Stars - I am very satisfied with the service provided by your shuttle driver, Brenda Sue. She was prompt, courteous, professional, and everything that might be expected from a top notch driver. Brenda provided me a first class service on my ride from the airport to the Holiday Inn Northwest in Urbandale, IA. She is such an incredible resource of information, yet professional and friendly.... I hope we meet again. Please express my thanks to Brenda Sue. Very welcoming and knowledgeable staff. Angie went out of her way to provide excellent information and make sure we were satisfied. Angie was the best! We stayed at Holiday Inns throughout our travels across the USA and Urbandale and Angie were the best. Thank you
