A huge thank you to the entire team at The Lake Isle for making my special birthday so memorable. A five star rating doesn't do justice to the exquisite food and excellent service we experienced. A special shout out to Victoria and Richard who both were simply brilliant throughout our stay. We will be back for another visit and would encourage anybody who enjoys fine dining to pay The Lake Isle a visit.

Excellent from start to finish. We were in room2 which was one of the best we have stayed in, light, beautifully designed spotlessly clean with a superb modern bathroom with luxury bath and large separate shower. Dinner was excellent with very efficient and friendly staff and we had an excellent three course a la carte dinner as part of our dinner bed and breakfast package. Would recommend and will return. Thanks to all.

Wonderful stay in centre of Uppingham. We stayed in one of the cosy cottages which was great for my elderly Mum and sister. Staff and owners couldn't do enough for us and food amazing. Handy being able to park right outside. Would definitely stay again. Thank you

The hotel itself was lovely—the room, evening meal, and breakfast were all excellent. However, the customer service received by the owner left a lot to be desired. When we checked in, I wasn’t sure we had the room we booked, so I called down to check. The response was dismissive, defensive, and after some back-and-forth, I was offered a different room but declined based on the attitude I’d already received. Throughout our stay, small things added up—other guests receiving extras we didn’t, being seated after later arrivals, and not being shown to our breakfast table. The atmosphere felt a bit off, and simple requests were met with unnecessary awkwardness. When we settled the bill, we weren’t even asked about our stay—just awkward silence, which summed up the service overall. A real shame, as everything else was great.

I met with three friends for lunch two of us wear hearing aids. I cannot fault the service and the food was excellent. For me the noise in the room was extremely uncomfortable so I could not communicate with my friends, One of my friends without hearing aid also found it hard to hear' There were carpets on the floor and soft furnishings, I did notice wood panelling around the walls maybe the sound was bouncing of the walls.

My wife and I booked a meal at the Lake Isle to catch up with some friends and decided to book a room to take advantage of their wine list. The room as spotless and beautifully appointed, the small hotel is a quirky old building and was thoughtfully decorated and attention to detail was every where. The meal was fantastic, my wife had the panko scallops.... they were that good I didn't even get to sample one! I had the venison and the others in the party had the trio of beef. All of it was superb and with generous portions. Deserts were also beautifully presented and tasted as good as they looked. There were some great wines on offer and we took full advantage of not having to drive home. Breakfast, full english for 3 and a veggie for one, perfectly cooked and great produce. Staff were attentive throughout dinner and breakfast. Overall a great stay would happily recommend and look forward to staying here again.

Excellent festive lunch. Always such a treat to dine at The Lake Isle. Food, service, atmosphere all top notch! Fabulous wine and drinks. The food was served with a to good to eat plate full of yummy deliciousness. Excellent service by very courteous staff. There was not a morsel left on our plates - even the kids tucked in and enjoyed everything especially the parsnips. Definitely recommend the gingerbread attic roll - utterly delightful! Great wine selection too!

My Husband and I stayed in Room 2 which was absolutely amazing. Really well thought out room with an absolutely out of this world bathroom. Total luxury! Beautiful rooms & restaurant with super friendly management & staff. Will certainly return. What a gem!
