Absolutely bloody terrible place to stay!!!! Riddled with bed bugs and a door that wasn't secure so ended up being burgled!!! Was made to feel like a pain for complaining about being bitten to death by bed bugs and was let to sleep on the floor due to the bed being crawlin...SHAMEFUL!!!! HIGHLY 💯 NOT RECOMMENDED!!!

Sewage coming up and filling the shower tray. This has been like it for two weeks. Rats in the walls that keep you awake all night No one taking responsibility. Landlord doesnt respond to messages . This place is not fit for chickens et alone human beings

I arrived from Liverpool, quite late - although I had specified this on reserving the room. I found the front door, and immediately noticed both external doors to the 'hotel' were wide open. When I came in, although clean, it smelt very musty and damp. Also, I'm not sure if some of the other rooms are apartments or studios - because it seemed like people lived there as well. This is not a hotel, it is what looks like a hostel. And the price is pretty self explanatory when visiting - if you think you're bagging a bargain, you're really not. The thing that most worried me was the security of the room itself; a flimsy Yale lock and two open front doors, is not a good mix on a busy main road where the hotel is situated (in a bit of a dodgy part of the city after dark). I ended up shoving my chair under the door handle to secure it, which then fell off, so that didn't really make things better. The room itself was not the best cleanliness wise, and the bedding had a musty smell. The thing that struck me was that my room was next to a communal toilet. And you can hear EVERYTHING that goes on. The bed was not comfy at all, the radiator was broken, and the window did not shut properly. Which meant I was freezing. Then, to make things worse, the next morning after having pretty much no sleep - the shower did not work properly. Freezing cold. DO NOT book here if you want cheap and cheerful, because it's less than that. Not a good experience at all. The photos are obviously the same place, but the upkeep has gone downhill since they were taken.

We had a family wedding in the Gowar last weekend, our friends and both our daughters booked this place to stay the night before. Our friends arrived in the afternoon, there is no reception or staff on site, they were sent a security code via email. To me this is not a hotel. They said the room smelled damp and described it more like a hostel. They left and found a room elsewhere, forgoing their money. I called to explain my two young daughters had rooms booked and that as there were staff on site, this is not a hotel and they wouldn’t feel safe, I wanted to cancel their rooms and get a refund. Basically after a long email battle I was refused, absolutely disgusting. Do not book this place, it’s completely mid sold!

Booked online and got a confirmation email. Arrived at correct time. No staff. No mail ref room number for key safe. Rang number and told we would get a call back. Waited over an hour. Kept getting answer phone. Luckily a guest gave us another number. We rang them and they said there were no rooms. Even though we paid deposit apparently didn't guarantee a room. Had to find another hotel 7.30pm on a Friday night

I booked a single room. After struggling with key codes and an awkward lock to room (15), l found a dingy room with just bunk beds. So was compelled to sleep in a bottom bunk with another bed above me. I would never have booked this. There is one overhead light and no bedside light. The TV did not work and l had no response to my email asking the owners to sort this. The view from the only window is of piled up rubbish meaning you can't have it open because of the smell and probability of rats. The shower looks good but there was no hot water. This is the worst room l have stayed at in over 50 years. And it cost £46. Outrageous. Be warned.

I read somewhere "the Alexander Hotel prides themselves on 24/7 Customer Engagement" - the room I paid for didn't have any power - therefore restricted offsite working with my laptop, no kettle/TV/hair drier/iron (which were all available in the room) and no overnight phone USB charging. There appears to be multiple phone numbers available, I unsuccessfully tried to contact the management/owner with answer phone messages and using the message function on the Hotel website. The self check in is open to security concerns, I wonder if the pin codes are ever changed. My room was to the rear of the property, on the ground floor. The curtains are arranged that there is such a large gap with the wall, With the room layout, I'd be concerned for the safety of female guests as from the rear courtyard you could easily see the bed and its occupant with the curtains drawn. As for the bed, it provided very little support and I ended up with a poor night's rest. For my daughter's room, she ended up with a cold shower in the morning, the TV didn't work, and the room light (a chandelier) only had one working bulb out of 4 or 5. Trying to end on a positive, i had a refreshing morning shower and yes the hotel is close to local shops, fast-food outlets, restaurants and pubs

We stayed at this hotel for 1 night for my daughters graduation. The house is old and needs repairs. Our shower was either scolding hot or cold, the shower door fell off onto my husbands foot. The curtain rail is held up by tape and only a couple of electrical sockets which were all used - not enough for a 4 person room. Very disappointed and not worth the money at all! We contacted the hotel re safety of room and heard nothing back!

My Wife & I stayed here for a couple of days as we were in Swansea mainly to watch the Fulham game. The Alexander is in a very good location and about a 15 minute walk to the main high street. The booking and arrival process was easy to follow and I would recommend the Alexander to anyone who is planning to visit Swansea.
