I arrived from Liverpool, quite late - although I had specified this on reserving the room. I found the front door, and immediately noticed both external doors to the 'hotel' were wide open. When I came in, although clean, it smelt very musty and damp. Also, I'm not sure if some of the other rooms are apartments or studios - because it seemed like people lived there as well. This is not a hotel, it is what looks like a hostel. And the price is pretty self explanatory when visiting - if you think you're bagging a bargain, you're really not. The thing that most worried me was the security of the room itself; a flimsy Yale lock and two open front doors, is not a good mix on a busy main road where the hotel is situated (in a bit of a dodgy part of the city after dark). I ended up shoving my chair under the door handle to secure it, which then fell off, so that didn't really make things better. The room itself was not the best cleanliness wise, and the bedding had a musty smell. The thing that struck me was that my room was next to a communal toilet. And you can hear EVERYTHING that goes on. The bed was not comfy at all, the radiator was broken, and the window did not shut properly. Which meant I was freezing. Then, to make things worse, the next morning after having pretty much no sleep - the shower did not work properly. Freezing cold. DO NOT book here if you want cheap and cheerful, because it's less than that. Not a good experience at all. The photos are obviously the same place, but the upkeep has gone downhill since they were taken.
