Sunriver Kalahari Lodge Riverside Stay in Upington

One of the best places to access the majestic Orange River in its natural state. The place has tranquility and gives that opportunity to recharge the mind/body/soul. Great customer experience with friendly staff and clean rooms with ample space

We had to book on short notice after some car trouble. Reception was friendly and accommodating of our needs, as I had to plug the freezer in my camping trailer into a mains socket. The receptionist showed me where I could do so without having to take the freezer out of the trailer. The rooms are very good and has a small fridge, very comfortable beds and efficient air conditioning - a must in Upington year round as it can get very cold in winter and extremely hot in summer. On the banks of the Orange (Gariep) River, the green oasis was welcome after spending a week in the Kgalagadi sand. Breakfast is a buffet with the usual cereals, yoghurt, and fried English breakfast components and was nicely done. All in all a very pleasant experience on a day where I was looking forward to a nice hot shower to was away the dust of the day.

As part of a birding tour - this resort was beautiful and well treed with a large lawn - on the banks of the Sun river with Springbok on the grounds. Rooms were very nice with amenities. Very good meals were provided in the restaurant on site. Staff was very friendly and service oriented.

Situated fairly close to the centre of town but away from any car noise. Very peaceful on the bank of the Orange River and the garden & lawns were green & very well maintained. We stayed in a Cottage with river & garden views . There were 2 bedrooms & a small kitchen area with a fridge/kettle as well as a lounge with a tv & a large bathroom. The rooms were spacious enough for a short stay on our way to Kgalagadi. There is off road parking behind remote gates , so it quite secure. They also have back up power should it be needed. The property also has a big viewing deck overlooking the river with tables & chairs to enjoy a sundowner or some food . We did not eat at the Lodge. It would have been nice if there were some snacks to buy at the bar especially when we watched the FA Cup football final. As it is winter the Lodge was very quiet which was wonderful for us , just the sounds of the river. And we did manage to see the 4 resident springboks & even touch Frikkie although the other 3 kept chasing him away

We enjoyed every moment of our stay. The view and greenery is a must see. The rooms were pretty nice and clean. Staff was great as well as the breakfast. I’ll definitely return with my family next time.

Rooms beautifully situated on the banks of the Gariep River. lush green lawns to the rivers edge with tame springbok grazing. Nothing lacking. Great recommendation for supper in town by the manager. Only negative and personal gripe is the OPEN shower - might be fashionable and withit but the water goes everywhere and especially in Winter it feels as if a Arctic gale is blowing in the bathroom.
