We attended an evening function and as such were able to stay the night at a reasonable bed and breakfast cost. I will not comment on the function, as it was arranged and paid for by others. However we were disappointed with our small, poorly decorated, cramped, cold, ground floor bedroom. The window blinds had to be kept closed as anyone walking past stared straight in. The bathroom was even colder with broken tiles and damaged sealant. The shower was the worst we have ever encountered. It was like standing under a dripping tap. No water pressure at all and in the overhead unit, only about 30% of the shower head let water out. There were no plugs by the bed with one available beneath the wall mounted TV and another that the tea making kettle used. One wall plug had been rendered useless by building a cupboard over half of it. The beds were comfortable but sleep was disturbed by banging doors and other residents generally being unaware of other guests, with loud (drunken) conversation into the early morning. We went for breakfast at 8:30, to be told it was only from 9:00 until 10:00, however the lady did kindly offer us tea but we decided to wait. She told us that we should have been informed of the time on arrival but we were not and there was nobody in reception to ask as we went to bed, or information in the room, which is a simple solution and good standard practice in even the smallest hostels. Breakfast was ok but limited. A simple order of one tea and one coffee was not fulfilled correctly. We have been in much better bed and breakfast accommodation and the reasonable price we felt was not value for money in this case. Wouldn’t go back or recommend the sleeping accommodation.
