Oatridge Hotel

Excellently located for our purpose, being near the people we were visiting and lots of local shops around too . Bus stop just a few seconds walk and takes you many places , Bathgate and Livingston and the train station at Uphall going to Glasgow or Edinburgh. Bar downstairs means you don’t have to go out for a drink and the restaurant onsite too does a great deal for two people on steak nights Thursday/ Friday. Rib eye or sirloin ( a wee bit extra money if you want Fillet ) Locally sourced from the butcher a few doors down and beautifully cooked and tasty. A bottle of house wine £ 34.95. We had the steak deal and again were not disappointed . Only one tip .. maybe plates could have been a bit hotter . We opted for a more expensive red wine the Chilean Yum yum . Thanks again guys comfy bed and clean . Not sure whether they have new carpets on the stair and rooms but it makes a difference . See you in February .

Horrible experience. Rooms not the cleanest. Baseboards need attention. There was some noise from the bar the first night. But that was NOTHING compared to the last night. There is a loud party in the garden completed with music and speakers. The floor and walls have been vibrating for the past couple of hours. No way to sleep. At. All. It’s now past 10 and we have an early flight. Never. Ever. Ever. Again. Also no safety bolt on inside of the door. There was not a do not disturb sign to put out. Maid service opened the door while we were still in bed.

We ate in the Oatridge Hotel restaurant yesterday and found the food and service to be of excellent quality, the presentation and quality of the food was actually outstanding and the waiting staff very efficient and friendly, the decor is very pleasing to the eye also. My husband and I ate there a few weeks ago also which is why we went back again with another couple yesterday as we were so impressed with the food and service, also the prices are very resonable.

Okay ill get the two negatives out the way. The stair carpet needs a professional clean,its filthy. Secondly i ordered a taxi which didn't appear. Either it wasnt booked or couldn't be bothered. This could have caused serious problems. Luckily i was able to call on a friend who rescued me. Moral is dont book a taxi through reception. Now the positives. Room was lovely and clean and a private toilet opposite the room with my own key. Quirky but no drama. Shower was good and the downstairs bar was friendly and buzzing. Had a meal in restaurant which again was good. All in, no dramas just the taxi business left a sour taste.

We visited the hotel for a family party nearby booking two rooms. We were not advised prior to arriving that the restaurant was closed for breakfast. There were a range of different reasons provided for this, no alternative provided, e.g., continental breakfast bag. One of our group managed to negotiate a deduction due to the inconvenience (nowhere nearby to go to), although the customer service in this exchange was not professional. The others in the group were advised breakfast is an added extra, the decision maker was not on site, and there was no concession made. The room rate was not good value. The hotel was VERY noisy at night-loud TV through the walk, guest upstairs returning to room at 2am and loud banging. Noise from the street at closing time (1am) and beyond. It’s a shame as the room is a good size, updated decor, although the floor dips, at points. Comfy bed too
