Angel Beach Unawatuna

The hotel is set in a stunning location, but unfortunately, the experience didn’t match the scenery. My room was in a corner with a small balcony blocked by a high wall, basically unusable. While the room looked clean at first glance, the towels and sheets had visible stains, which was off-putting. The staff were not welcoming, more curt and unfriendly than helpful. I had multiple issues with transportation: twice my pre-booked cab or tuk tuk was not allowed to pick me up. Even my airport transfer was denied access, with the hotel insisting I pay them to take me somewhere nearby to be picked up. This forced use of their overpriced transport felt like a scam, almost like being caught in a tuk tuk mafia situation. It also seemed like they actively blocked ride-hailing apps. The sea was too rough to swim in during my stay, but the pool was decent. Overall, the lack of hospitality and the transport manipulation left a bad taste. Would not return.

We recently stayed at Angel Beach Resort and overall, the place has a fantastic vibe, especially in the evening — perfect for families, couples, and groups of friends. The location is amazing, right by the beach, and the poolside staff were excellent, offering great service. Breakfast also had a wide range of delicious options, which we really enjoyed. However, our stay was unfortunately affected by several negative experiences that need to be addressed. We booked two deluxe rooms but were given two completely different room types, and the air conditioning in both rooms was not functioning properly. Even after setting the temperature to 17°C, the rooms didn’t cool adequately. We did report this to reception, and they managed to fix it later — which we appreciate — but it should not have been an issue in the first place. When we requested a room change from receptionist Bashitha, despite paying USD 225 for one night, we were offered a standard room as a replacement — which was not acceptable considering what we paid for deluxe rooms. Additionally, the room construction quality is very poor. Even when speaking softly, people in the next room could hear us clearly, including when using the washroom. The worst part of our stay was the way Front Office Manager Dilshan handled a guest complaint. He came to our room and knocked multiple times between 10:30 PM and 11:30 PM, asking us to stop talking, despite us not making excessive noise or playing music. On the third visit, he even brought security and two other staff members, which made us feel extremely uncomfortable — as if we were being treated like troublemakers or prisoners, just for having a normal conversation in our room. I explained to him that we were not singing or shouting, and even invited him to see the room himself. His behavior was not professional, and it made us feel unwelcome and disrespected. He also asked us to come speak to him at the reception the next day ????? This kind of experience is not what you expect from a 4-star resort. I strongly suggest the top management — especially Mr. Nishantha Gamage (General Manager) — look into how the staff is trained to handle guests, particularly in the front office. The property is beautiful and has great potential, but these issues made our stay far less enjoyable than it could have been.

I have visited this lovely club with my wife & two daughters. This is probaly one of the best places in the world for a relaxing chill out. My family had a great time @ Angel Beach. Scrumptious food ‚ amazing drinks ‚ great live music & a glorious location! All you need is here @ one place. You can feel the amazing vibes as soon as you enter this heavenly place. Me & My wife have enjoyed their signature cocktails & a dance while my two daughters had a wonderful time in the swimming pool. Mr.Pasan who is well known as 'Mr. Percussion' has performed brilliantly which made our dance time a memorable one. My kids enjoyed their amazing meal after a enjoyable swim. They were served with amazing desserts on house! Mr.Dinesh & Mr.Supun has done a tremendous job to keep us fully satisfied. They are truly valued assets to this club when it comes to customer service ! Chef Dasun personally visited us to check whether everything is ok with the food. Thank you chef for your kind gesture. Food was delicious! General Manager Mr.Nishantha was practically everywhere checking upon every customer to make sure that they are truly satisfied! Thank you Mr.Nishantha for everything! If you are in Sri Lanka you should add this place to your bucket list to make sure you have the total Sri Lankan experience! Highly Recommend this amazing place 👌

We spent a very nice week at Angel Beach Club. All the staff is very open, smily, hospitable and ready to help at any time. Everything was on a highest level - clear rooms, tasty food, nice beach, white towels, sun beds, everything.. Room was cleaned twice or triple times per a day and we even did not notice when it was arranged. Towels were changed several times a day. Beach is very beautiful but you have to be very careful with the ocean cause every time strong waves pull you inside. As we were staying there our favorite sun bed was reserved and prepared for us to use every morning. But the best thing in this hotel is food and its chef. As we tried all the dishes from the menu, we were served with the delicious meal at our last dinner. The chef cooked them for us and created the dishes especially for us. Thanks a lot to him for his masterpiece.
