Popular Umhlanga 4-star Hotels

The hotel is in a great location and the staff were helpful and friendly. I didn't particularly like the restaurant/ room service menu as it ONLY had milkshakes on their drinks menu. You have to inquire about other drinks like wine, juices, coffee etc. It would be nicer if all the drinks prices were listed. The kettle in my room was dirty but housekeeping and the front desk were apologetic and replaced it with a clean kettle quickly. Every cafe or restaurant around the hotel opens at 9a.m, so I recommend paying for the hotel breakfast buffet if you're an early bird like me. I learnt about loadshedding after coming back from a day out and finding no power except a light and the tv in my room. For foreign guests who don't know about it, it might be a nice touch if the hotel could place the loadshedding schedule in guest rooms so it doesn't come as an unwelcome surprise. The bed was comfy and the wifi was usually fast. Overall, I had a good stay at the hotel.

Hilton is great staff are very helpful and do there job with a smile. Rooms are decent and views aren't so bad. Very close to malls and food places. Stayed a few times during ramadaan and found the hotel caters for muslim guests that are fasting which is great not forgetting the hotel is muslim friendly which means you can have some of the meat products without having to worry if it's halal or not. Will definitely return

well! The best hotel in the class, the neighborhood is very safe, fast food, Chinese and Western food are available, the beach is very beautiful, but a bit expensive, but it is worth it, five-star worth experiencing

In addition to perfection, I don't know how to say it. The owner is a pair of elderly parents in their 70s, polite and very happy. I lived for more than ten years before Joburg. I renovated this manor in 2002. It was very beautiful, quiet and comfortable, Umhlanga.

What an elegant hotel. Beautiful spacious rooms, the staff is attentive and friendly. There’s a lot of restaurants around the hotel to choose from, the ocean is within a walking distance. I’ll definitely stay here next time I’m in Durban!

This was my first time staying at the Royal Palms and enjoyed my stay and it was a very relaxing stay. Very close to any shopping venue you want. The rooms are special. I will invite my friends to visit this hotel in the future.

We stayed for four nights and thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The property is a few minutes walk from the shops and restaurants in Umhlanga and is around 200 yards from the sea front. We were given a superb large corner room from which we could glimpse the sea. There were opening doors on to a shared wraparound balcony. The decor was tasteful in the room too. There is a small sheltered pool and an honesty bar. Breakfast was very tasty with daily specials cooked to order by friendly staff. We could not have asked for more helpful hosts. From giving us advice about where to eat to putting us in touch with a reliable taxi owner for excursions and airport transfers, we were really taken care of. Ashley even got up at 4 am to help us move baggage to the waiting taxi for the airport transfer. We would certainly stay here on a future visit to Umhlanga.

Beautiful place, it is very quiet and peaceful. I loved the sea view😍. The room is very clean and spacious, very friendly staff, always there to help. Breakfast was very delicious, many options to choose from, this guest house is close to many restaurants and party places, this is a huge bonus, very convenient, I highly recommend. Whether you want a peaceful stay of you want to be out and about, this is definitely the right place to book😉❤️

I absolutely loved and enjoyed my stay at Ocean Vista Boutique Guest House. It's a lovely establishment that is quiet, peaceful, and serene with stunning views of the sea. The owner (Snezana) is a brilliant and thoughtful host. She truly goes out of her way to ensure that the guests are comfortable and to provide all the required information for new visitors to Durban. (She also upgraded me to a room with better sea views at no extra cost, when the room became available during my one-week stay there).The other staff were also lovely. The breakfast was wholesome. It is located in a very quiet and safe neighbourhood (security was a big concern for me as a female travelling solo, and the general area of the guest house definitely met my expectations and I felt safe). There is really nothing to fault about Ocean Vista. The only thing they might want to consider doing is slightly extend breakfast times to accommodate guests such as myself who are there on holiday, and might want to sleep in a little bit. Otherwise five gold stars! And I highly recommend Ocean Vista Boutique Guest House.

The guesthouse is situated in a great location just a heartbeat away from lovely restaurants and the beach. Mr and Mrs Crous are wonderful hosts. The rooms were beautifully decorated and comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious and the service was outstanding. I would recommend the guesthouse to anyone.
