Inn at Taughannock Falls

The buildings that I visited (Main House & the Parkview guest house in which I stayed) were very nice except for any entrances used exclusively by staff & excuding the mildew smell emanating from the shower; outside staff doors ti the kitchen were grimey as if no one thought that guests might actually pass by to observe the dirt. Service is efficient but without a smile or a welcome. The included breakfast may not live up to your expectations: buffet style warming trays of scrambled eggs & home fries (no breakfast meats) were the only cooked items along with a vat of vanilla yogurt, fresh berries. & a mystery granola that stuck together alongside lots of carbs (sugary cherry turnovers, cinnamon swirls, bagels, croissants, & other store-bought pastry), but nothing homemade in an Inn that seems to aim for old fashioned charm. Signs suggesting gratuities for housekeeping & the dining room are plentiful, but are a joke at breakfast where we saw no staff member at all. I suggest that management take a portion of the nearly $600 nightly room rate (for a room with a view of the driveway), & allocate a portion to the invisible breakfast staff they want guests to tip. Parking is free, & I strongly suggest checking in & parking at the Inn before forking over $10 to park at the State Park literally next door; there are paths from the Inn grounds to the Park. The Inn is generally nice-looking, but service needs an upgrade. Oh, and if you want to use the complimentary laundry room outlined on the contract you sign at check-in, be aware that it's no longer available.

We spent 2 night here in the Parkview room and we will be back to stay again! We had a wonderful time. The Inn is right next to the Park. It’s very clean cozy and quiet. We had a fantastic dinner at the restaurant on site too. It exceeded our expectations.

A total disappointment from the start to the end. The staff except for the cleaming staff and a few at the restaurant gave little care to our stay or needs or issues. Aside form the main house the other lodging is plain ordinary and all for over $1000 a night. The restaurant was even more a disappointment., A number of items not on the menu that grew from day one to day two. Imagine I ordered chicken parm and asked to substitute past for veggies and was told it was not possible. pass on this place

I have to tell you that our stay at the inn was one of the nicest stays I've ever had.  The Inn and grounds are just lovely and the meticulous detail to the upkeep and gardens was very noticeable and appreciated. Our room was functional, clean, spacious, well appointed and charming.  Breakfast was delicious and much more than a continental breakfast, very enjoyable. Taughannock Falls State park is a very short walk from the inn which was very convenient. My only suggestion would be, as many guests are likely to be hiking, to put a small cut out in the carpet as a place to remove your shoes before walking on the carpet.  All in all we had a wonderful stay and I would highly recommend the Inn.
