The hotel is beautiful and many animals can be seen on the grounds. Maasai guards accompany to your room you at night to be safe. No A/C is an issue at night (32C) difficult to sleep. Swimming pool is a health hazard (no steps, very slippery tiles). Staff very friendly except receptionist.

FONCEZ !

As with all experiences when visiting Tanzania, it’s the people who make it the most memorable. So, our stay for a few days over Christmas at the Africa Safari Selous Camping lodge was no exception. The staff are friendly, welcoming and always helpful but my review is about the standard of accommodation at the lodge… My wife and I lived in TZ for more than 7 years, leaving 15 years ago. So a revisit with our daughter for a Christmas safari was something we were really excited about. No longer enjoying the discounted residents’ rates, we plumbed for the above lodge which is located just outside the park, as this is cheaper than staying within the park itself. Confusingly the lodge/ camp bares the same name as a few others, but this is the one around Kizwangwiza(sp?) and near the airstrip. My biggest gripe about this place is how really overpriced it is. The rooms, in mud hut styled bandas, are at best average. They are kept tidy by the maids, but there’s no hiding the fact that they are tired and grungy at best: holed mosquito nets, termite dust on the bed linen day and night, rock hard mattresses and holes in the ceiling and doors. The latter would be fine but for the fact that we saw 2 snakes on the path towards our accommodation one night, reminding us how easy they’d be able to enter the rooms. But far more frustrating are the power cuts - I’d have thought that the camp would’ve got itself a large enough generator by now, to deal with the endless BS of Tanesco (TZ electricity) power cuts! So, if you’re needing to charge cameras, phones, watches, etc. it’ll be hit and miss. And when the power is off the water pumps of course operate at a trickle. Also, getting the internet is only at the bar/ reception areas, and they are a walk from your accommodation .

A very enjoyable two-night safari and stay in the camp. Never forget! Our first safari day started straight from the air field with the guide Sylvester. He was very entertaining as well as knew everything about everything, and made the best coffee for us on the coffee break. We saw all our favorite animals (but unfortunately no simba). The jeep was very comfortable, hardly any "african massage" to be had :) The accommodation at the camp was perfect in our own little african house, with a shower and a western style toilet and all. Nights were very warm with only a fan in the ceiling, but we survived inside the mosquito nets quite comfortably. The restaurant was top notch (considering the location in the bush). Good basic food, and our food allergies were well taken into consideration. I got a nice birthday surprise as well (a song and a cake). The maasai a the camp took very good care of us, walked us through the darker path to and from our accommodation to the restaurant and evening fire pit. The new pool (rectangular, not the round one in most of the pictures) was nice and refreshing. Some power outages were experienced during our stay, but I guess it is normal.

We had a great stay at Africa Safari Selous. We had 3 days safari and it was unforgettable, also thanks to our guide Tarimo. He was a really great guide and he made the experience the best. After the 3 days we really didn’t want to leave, we wanted to stay for more safari!! But unfortunately we had to go back. We really hope to be back someday! Xx Sophie and Sander

I’ve been here for 5 days: good accommodation, super nice people, good food and very competent and friendly guidance through Selous Game Drive by Gabriel. I love to come back to Paradies! There is nothing more add, just perfect to me!!!!!!!

Een hele mooi ervaring. 2 daagse Safari in Selous. Prima ontvangen.
