Shikazukiso Kakeyu Onsen This is a public lodging facility in Kakeyu Onsen, Ueda City, Nagano Prefecture. You can stay there for a low price. It was located on the hill of Kakeyu Onsen. It was a weekend, but it was quite reasonably priced. It is an old building, but the inside is kept clean. I didn't have high expectations for the room because I had seen a Japanese-style room on YouTube, but it was a nice Western-style room. There was no toilet in the room because I didn't check carefully enough. There was a toilet across the hallway, and there was one with a washlet. There was no refrigerator in the room, but there was a shared refrigerator. There was no open-air bath, but the indoor bath was well ventilated, so it wasn't muggy and was comfortable to bathe in. The hot spring has a slight sulfur smell and is a good hot spring. The washing area is the type where you adjust the temperature of the water by turning the faucet, so it was a little difficult to get used to. It seems that day-trippers come, but on Saturdays and other days before holidays, day-trippers are only allowed until 3 p.m., so it was not crowded, which was good. There are no amenities in the wash area. Dinner was served from 6pm, and we ate in a spacious restaurant. Everything was set on the table, and rice, miso soup, and water were self-service. The menu was summery, but there were many sweet dishes. The soba noodles topped with tororo nameko okra were quite a lot. Overall, the amount of rice was enough to finish. We didn't have dessert, but the sukiyaki hotpot and the rice we ate were enough to fill us up. My partner, who usually doesn't eat rice, said, "The amount is good enough to eat rice as well." The local cold sake was reasonably priced, 880 yen for 330cc, which was nice. Breakfast was a Japanese set meal, and rice and miso soup were self-service. Coffee was also available. Breakfast was well-balanced and just the right amount. The coffee was quite American for me, but my partner, who likes it weak, drank two cups. The staff at the restaurant were very nice. It was a nice inn where you could stay at a low price and enjoy the hot springs at your leisure.
