Sherwood's Country House

The promises on their site and the reviews are not aligned at all. We walked into room 1 and were greeted by the smell of mould. Opening our door revealed extensive moisture damage throughout the room, dirty walls, mould in all the framed pieces, paint / plaster lifting from moisture in the walls, the bathroom was in an appalling state with mould or something like that growing on the toilet seat, mould in the cupboards, skirtings were swollen and moulded, the one single bed mattress (of the two pushed together) was collapsed to such a point that we had to share a single bed. The ceiling is sagging due to moisture. When trying to call the owner to have a look at the room there was no answer or any staff to assist. One of the gardeners took me to her house to get a hold of her. She was annoyed by the fact that I had a problem with the room and could not believe that what I was saying was true. Walking to our room - over a deck i such disrepair, I stepped through a plank to which she just said “whoopsie”, on our way she also said that “we have a guy doing our mould and all mould has been treated recently”. She continued to argue with every piece of “evidence of mould” scratching with her nails at even the gross toilet seat and not washing her hands after that, telling me “this is just used” “this is not mould” “this is just dirt” “this is something else”. We did get to move to a cleaner and less moldy room bit we should not have been placed in that unsafe health risk of a room to start with.

Views are magnificent. The location is a little distance from town but definately not too far. Clean spacious rooms. Gardens well looked after. Staff friendly and helpful. Nothing is an effort for them. Home to home atmosphere. Will visit again.

I love their beautiful garden. They just need to improve inside their rooms, air con, drink water etc

The staff was very friendly and helpful. They even lit the fireplace to be ready for when I returned from town. I left too early for breakfast, and they offered to make me a breakfast pack. The breakfast pack was lovely and there was enough food for the whole day! The room was spacious and clean. The location is +/-14km out of town but it was worth the drive. The area is very beautiful, and I even received a complimentary box of Sherwood's avocados. The accommodation is suitable for business trips and family trips.

I real loved your service, your room was big and clean with open space and even your breakfast is amazing.mu family enjoyed everything about sherwoods County hotel but the only complain l have is your traveling way to the guest houses and the parking of cars it's not in good condition

Set atop a beautiful Ridge looking over avocado plantations into a beautiful valley, Sherwood's Guest Lodge is a generously laid out Guest lodge with various room options and a spectacular garden with magnificent trees. The views are awesome! Breakfasts are a treat and dinners by arrangement are always very good. Derek & Danielle are fantastic hosts and the staff are friendly and helpful. Sherwood's is a home from home whenever I am in the Tzaneen area.
