Magoebaskloof Hotel

Many years ago, before the infamous conflagration that destroyed part of the hotel, I stayed there. Also, every Sunday, my family and I would indulge in tea/coffee with fresh scones, cream and strawberry jam. The bar, then, was most charming. Thus I found my self back at this hostelry, and even the room seemed like the one I stayed in then. Not much has changed. To many travellers, the rooms (I stayed in a Standard room so I cannot report on others) may seem dated - but they are huge! Also, the bed is fantastic! Firm, with good pillows. I enjoyed dinner in the bar and I don't think it has the same ambience as the old one. In the morning, I enjoyed breakfast in the dining area. Here I sampled the English breakfast - and the serving was large, very large. So, that dispenses with the accommodation and the eating. Now the service. Well, perhaps other establishments should send their staff to Magoebaskloof Hotel for training. From the welcome at check-in, to the service in the bar, to the service at breakfast, I found it all exemplary. This is what we know and understand about South African hospitality. By the way, there was no artifice in the friendly attitudes and actions of the staff; I experienced real warmth. In conclusion: I will return to Magoebaskloof Hotel for the comfort and the views and the hospitality.

Great place for families and those who want peace and Beuty Breakfast was marvelous

Magoebaskloof hotel is an absolute gem! We were treated to welcome dinks, snacks and an amazing bouquet of flowers in the room. The staff were super friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. The hotel has a charming air of a bygone era with dramatic views over the indigenous forests. The trails in the forest allow one to be immersed in all that nature has to offer. Highly recomended! Visiting this hotel is like coming home. Steeped in tradition and with mountain friendliness and warm hearty food. Stayed for 3 nights. Enjoyed every minute of it. Roolien made us feel welcome and helped plan all our outings. The room was spacious and clean. Staff was helpful and friendly

The rooms are Homely and comfortable, the views are breathtaking. A lovely 1.5km walk to the waterfall. The pub is a great vibe with great assortment of drinks, the bar staff is very competent and friendly. The breakfast very tasty met all my expectations

The Magoebaskloof hotel has such spectacular & refreshing views. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there. The staff were also professional, friendly & so hospitable. I would highly recommend the hotel as a must visit & see destination. Thank you for everything. Dineo M
