booked this hotel for our 46th wedding anniversary after seeing the write ups on the quality of the food and hotel. The hotel write up says “wake up to sea views and a hearty breakfast included on both mornings of your stay, tuck into the continental buffet or order cooked items from the menu, will it be full Cornish or eggs Benedict? Our talented chefs will create a three course dinner for you to enjoy in the intimate oak panelled Dakota restaurant also included in one night of your stay expect delicious dishes where local and seasonal ingredients shine” I must point out that this hotel was taken over in September 2024 and I think most of the information on their website is related to the previous owners the delicious food was not forthcoming we had booked that romantic weekend which included rose petals in the room, chocolate bottle of Bubbly & breakfast on both nights with three course dinner on 1st night The breakfast was most disappointing I've never seen such a bland looking full English in all my life as per the photograph and it was all cold and I ordered it with the eggs poached to be on toast so the yoke would seep into the toast and my wife ordered egg Benedict, both our eggs came up solid! The evening meal which again nothing related to previous write ups on the hotel. The main courses on offer were pasta arrabiata, sirloin steak but that was an additional £10, duck with noodles and hoisin sauce, cheeseburger and fish and chips. The duck and noodles came up with a duck leg on top! Whenever I've had that in any other high class restaurants the duck always comes up shredded in the noodles not dumped on the top. The waitress we had who's now gone off to Bali was outstanding, the maitre-d' for breakfast and in general I must say was very poor. While staying you could NOT run up a TAB! Every time we ordered a beer, wine or anything you have to pay at time of ordering.
