Savalen Fjellhotell & Spa

Had the pleasure to stay here with my family, 2 adults and 2 children aged 11 and 7 for the Easter holidays. We got a good deal with breakfast and dinner included. Parts of the hotel are a bit worn, such as the swimming pool, with a bit too many edges and the massage chairs quite worn. However the pool is still excellent for kids. The hotel is going through an upgrade, and the rooms and restaurant and reception area looks good, everything works and is of good quality. It said in the advert for the room that it had microwave oven and freezer, but had oven and stove, and only fridge, but it was good enough for us. The fridge was quite spacious for being in a hotel room. Nice to be able to cook ourselves if needed. The breakfast was as expected, good bread, and standard continental breakfast options, and a bit more. Didn't miss anything. However, being a coffee lover, the coffee was below par. I would love to see an upgrade there. The dinner buffet was much better then expected. Good options for children as well. There was always 3-4 options for main course, and it was well prepared. There was also quite many vegetarian and vegan options, as well as other cold dishes. Dessert was also good and plentyful. Allergens were clearly labeled, but beware that it might be wrong, in particular for milk. This Easter there was not any skiing conditions, but mostly good weather and many good options to go hiking. "Kletten" is highly recommended for the great view from there. We will most likely go back in summer or winter sometime. I also want to highlight the serviceminded and pleasant employees at Savalen. All in all a great stay and we will be back! :)

Incredibly great place with very good food. The booking could at times be perceived as not smooth and square, not always as customer-friendly...

The spa/pool area wasn't quite the beautiful place as the pictures showed, but not too bad. Nissegata 60 m² apartment/cabin was great.

I celebrated Christmas over two days with my family. + The reception area/lobby is very cozy. + Nice and welcoming staff. + Free parking + Excellent place for outdoor activites + Good massage (and nice lake view from SPA area) - Shower curtains in bathroom. Come on... That is very undelicate. - Dated hotel in general - Lack of "phone culture regulations". PLING/DING/PLONG all the time. How about putting up a sign, asking the guests to care for others? - Lousy pillows - They let kids play (with) the piano in the lobby. Why??? Very annoying (sound). - A kid, maybe son of one of the staff, was sitting 24/7 with his UNmuted phone watching it. Perhaps he should be accompanied to his room?
