I feel almost guilty writing this as my travelling companion paid for our stay. Where as the room and general cleanliness was impeccable, the service and staff were deplorable. Upon check-in we were met by a person called Linda I believe. There was no mention of a "Welcome" to the hotel, and all we received was a very cool and unwelcoming cursory "sign here" and then told the breakfast times. This supposedly from the best hotel in the area. At breakfast the following morning I entered the restaruant with two staff standing at the door chatting to themselves and completely ignoring me. Upon ordering an Eggs Benedict I was served one measly egg on a muffin with ham and hollandaise sauce on a huge plate, not two which one would usually be served at a 4 star or above hotel. My companion was served a full Irish breakfast which appeared to be cooked the night before and re-heated. Not once during our breakfast were we approached by any staff member to enquire how happy were we with our breakfast. In fact the staff seemed to be more interested in the non-Irish guests there, no doubt more concerned with their expected tips. Upon check out we were never even asked "How was your stay? Did you enjoy yourselves? Please come again." To us it was like the staff had been dragged in, completely untrained, and at rock bottom dollar rates. The only staff member I could say anything nice about was the young Ukranian barman who'd only been there two weeks and was obviously un-infected by the general malaise of the rest of the staff. I have been visiting this area for over 40 years and know this hotel well. I don't know what has happened to its management but it has truly lost all its class. Avoid it. Book yourselves a BnB instead.

Our family has been visiting Renvyle House for 25 years—and incredible though it may seem, it just keeps getting better. The entire place runs like clockwork, radiating a quiet efficiency across every department. It’s the little things that make the biggest difference: the genuinely warm welcome from the front-of-house team, the smiling and friendly housekeepers, and a restaurant that could hold its own in the finest company. The consistency and quality of service are no coincidence—many key staff have been with Renvyle for years, a testament to the strength and care of the management team. Whether we’re exploring the many attractions in the surrounding area or simply relaxing in the beautifully maintained gardens and cozy lounges, we always leave feeling refreshed. Nothing is ever too much trouble for Anne Marie and her team. Renvyle House remains a special place, and somehow, it just keeps raising the bar.

⸻ Renvyle Tommy, David, Paul Peter and team run the bar with class. Nico and his colleagues make breakfast something special. Linda at the desk is amazing—I hope she gets some sleep as she always seems to be there. She cannot do enough for us. Anne Marie is a modern-day leader; she can be found delivering an ironing board one moment and answering the phone in the bar the next. But her real talent is conducting such a large orchestra to make the place hum. She has clearly stretched whatever capital budget she has to the last penny. The improvements year on year are beyond noticeable, including but not limited to: • A tasty revamp of the apartments • A complete overhaul of the tennis courts and playgrounds- game changer • Paving of the pool area She has also tightened but elevated the breakfast buffet. The informality of the bar dining, special formal dining and speed of delivery of kids rooms service means you don’t have to leave to have top class cuisine It’s amazing to think that what makes the place special is the blend of what hasn’t changed for centuries and what has changed since last year. Marin remembered the kids’ names when they came back from last year and had a great way about him as he moved between the bar and restaurant. He’s a future leader. Paz, Janny, Ewan, and the cleaning team are amazing and get on great with the kids. The guests never make you feel like our over-exuberant boys are a burden on their holiday—even if they are! We’ve been lucky to visit a few places this year with our four kids, and Renvyle remains the unanimous number one across our family.

Eamonn and I got married in Renvyle House in July 2024. The wedding was exceptionally co-ordinated by Ben Williams. From initially choosing the venue up until the final details of the day, he was available to answer our questions and make all our special requests for the day a reality. We always felt like we were in safe hands. As the bride, on the day Majella made everything flow effortlessly for me. She made the morning with my family and bridesmaids so special and was always close-by for whatever we needed. She was also a lovely person to have around on this special occasion and made us all, and the day in general, feel so important. The staff greeted me and my Dad with a guard of honour (which is the level of detail and thoughtfulness you can expect if getting married in Renvyle). Eamonn and I were greeted on two occasions by the staff with bottles of champagne (again the special little touches). Antone still talking about the wedding is talking about the food. They said it was not only the best food they have had at a wedding, but the best dinner they have ever had. The quality of the food is renowned in Renvyle, and this was not impacted in any way by the large quantity of guests that we had there. The wine was flowing all night, with special non-alcoholic wine for those not drinking – and the servers never forgot to top this up too. Another example of the exceptional service. Thank you for this Tomás! Anne-Marie is the shining star at Renvyle, although you would not know this as she operates in the background making sure everything is perfect for every guest. She is a joy to talk to, and you feel she really knows and cares for you personally. One of my favourite moments was when she played the entrance song for the bridal party at breakfast, and we all got up and started dancing again. This is what you are getting at Renvyle, the whole hotel for yourself, every experience from the night before to breakfast the next day revolves around you and your guests. It would be remis not to mention the natural beauty that surrounds Renvyle. The rugged and beautiful Connemara landscape takes your breath away. You can admire it while walking the grounds, sitting in the outdoor Hot Tub or follow in our footsteps and make all your guests go for a swim in the sea on day two (just a few metres from their bedroom). It is an amazing place to be and will always hold a special place in our hearts. Being from Galway means we can visit with our friends and family, and stay, in both Winter and Summer (and always receive the same quality service and food). Olivia and Eamonn

This really is a fabulous spot and very unique. The location, food, amenities and especially the service are fantastic. There is so much to do between outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, hot tubs and much more that it is hard to fit it all in. The atmosphere from the guests, staff and management is so welcoming and very obvious that the staff enjoy and are proud to work there. We have already booked again for next year. Thanks Anne Marie and team for a beautiful weekend
