The Hotel itself is beautiful but the food and the staff were the cherry on top . We had one of the nicest experiences winter can offer and will certainly do this again .we wish our stay had been longer than two nights .

I can see why this gem of a hotel gets consistently rave reviews!! If I had to rate what I loved about our stay there… the Amazing Friendliest Staff would be on Top of my list!! Not to mention the fabulous room and ambience of the hotel… Thank You all you wonderful staff for a totally wonderful stay!!

Gleich zu Beginn: Tulbagh steht im Schatten von Stellenbosch und Franshoek. Dafür ist es aber wesentlich kleiner und ein wenig rauher als das studentische Stellenbosch aber bei weitem nicht so touristisch-artifiziell wie Franshoek. Dafür bietet es ein wirklich unglaublich charmantes Ensemble von Kolonialhäusern (die verwunschene Church Street, fast wie im entlegensten Kolonial-Myanmar oder Laos). In der Umgebung locken Weingüter - Twee Jonge Gezellen mit Top MCC und Saronsberg mit ebenfalls herrlichem Art-Ambiente. Obendrein Oakhurst Olives mit hochinteressanter Verkostung. Entscheidet man sich für 1-2 Nächte in Tulbagh, so ist das TBHH erste Wahl. Lage: direkt an der Hauptstrasse, kurze Laufdistanz (2 min) zur Church Street & Restos & Shops. Kostenfreier Hotelparkplatz gegenüber. Einrichtungen: Pool, Bar, Restaurant im Hotel, sehr empfehlenswert. Die Räumlichkeiten sind etwas verwinkelt, d.h. "gewachsen" und bieten immer interessante Perspektiven & nette Plätze, um einen Drink zu bestellen ;-) Gepflegtes Atmosphäre, liebevolles Design, klasse Atmosphäre. Zimmer: Wir hatten "Rooibos" - De luxe Doppelzimmer mit Balkon & Poolzugang. Diese Zimmer liegen etwas unterhalb des Pools, sind aber keinesfalls "souterrain", aber eben auch nicht "oben" und daher bei Regen schon etwas dunkel ;-) Alles vorhanden (fridge/safe etc.) Grosses Bad, gute Betten. Das Zimmer war absolut OK und sauber, wenn auch nicht auf dem allerneuesten Stand, ein kleines facelift wäre OK. Service: sehr zuvorkommend, top. Klares Plus ist das auch das Restaurant & die Bar, perfekt zum Relaxen. Wir empfehlen Tulbagh und das TBHH für 1-2 Nächte, eine perfekte Ergänzung zu Stellenbosch-Franshoek.

This is my sixth stay at this hotel, please refer to my previous reviews as well. It was another great weekend, and I have booked again for December, I think that tells you just how good we think this hotel is, we can not recommend it highly enough, just go and see for yourself.

Lovely revamped boutique hotel in the heart of Tulbagh. Friendly staff, modern spacious large rooms with all the facilities you need. Recommend the “gourmet package”. Great base to explore surrounding olive farms & vineyards. Also plenty of outdoor options ( hiking, mountain biking, horse riding etc.) in the vicinity.

Still our number one place to go to enjoy a fabulous holiday in a wonderful location, this was our annual visit to South Africa from the U.K. the welcome at the Tulbagh Hotel is always friendly and professional and rooms are always immaculate and mini fridge stocked up with good selection of drinks. The swimming pools are a great place to enjoy the sunny February weather, every staff member is dedicated to their job and always give the best service to all guests which is why this special Hotel was awarded the Friendliest Hotel in South Africa last year. The Hotels Olive Terrace Restaurant is the place to eat for meals any time of day and we have always had the best service and superb meals when eating here every day of our two week stay. Tulbagh has a good Spar supermarket and selection of small shops and cafes and nearby Church Street has some of the finest Thatched properties in the country. Manager Lianna does a fantastic job alongside her team of hard working staff who are always available to look after your every need. The Tulbagh Valley has a good choice of Wineries where you can enjoy the tasting of some of the Western Capes best wines all within a few miles of the Tulbagh Hotel. So if you want a relaxing comfortable great value Hotel in a very quiet part of the Tulbagh wine route then this is the place to be. We now counting down the days to February 2026 when we will be back to The Friendliest Hotel in South Africa,The Tulbagh Boutique Heritage Hotel.

Das Hotel liegt an der Hauptstraße in Tulbagh und ist relativ “ verschachtelt”. Die Honeymoon Suite und einige andere Zimmer befinden sich in einem Gebäude auf der gegenüberliegenden Straßenseite. Die Fotos im Internet sind hübscher, als die Zimmer selbst. Aber die Managerin ist großartig und war immer da, um auch das kleinste Problem zu lösen. Die Mitarbeiter sind sehr freundlich und tragen dazu bei, einen schönen Aufenthalt zu haben.
