Hampton Inn Birmingham/Trussville

Very disappointed. Room smelled musty / humid. Bedding felt as if it was damp. Turned AC to the highest to cool room and ventilate. Checked it at 10:00 pm and it was 3:00 amd could not sleep on what felt like humid bedding. Asked for a set of sheets and blanket. Front desk said they did not have any. Staff was not welcoming nor helpful. Room did not feel clean. Lotion bottles were empty. I don’t recommend staying there nor will I ever stay there again!!

I stayed at this location twice recently for business. The first stay was good. The second…not so good. Check-in was quick and the facility appeared clean. When I arrived at my room the key would not work and I had to return to the front desk(downstairs) to get it re-coded. Once inside, the room was stuffy, as if the AC wasn’t on. The AC WAS on, set at 70 degrees. There’s no way the temperature in that room was 70 degrees, and I had to turn the thermostat down to 60 to get the room cool enough, and I’m a cold-natured person. Even set at 60, the unit turned on and off repeatedly. I’ve encountered this same issue at a couple of other Hilton properties and the issue is far more likely to be units that are programmed to display a colder temperature than what it actually is so that unsuspecting guests won’t run the AC excessively and consume electricity. This room(and the previous room) had a “decoy” thermostat on the wall that was dead and did nothing. What’s the point of that? The second and far more serious issue was that after I returned from supper, I was laying on the bed watching TV when my attention was redirected to a large cockroach crawling across the floor. It saw me and made a run for it but I chased it down and killed it. I don’t do bugs, and I certainly don’t do bugs in hotel rooms I paid nearly $200 a night for. I promptly packed and left the next morning, a day early and stayed elsewhere. The last issue is that there is an air freshener or candle burning in the lobby that is strong enough to asphyxiate you. Stuff that string is there to cover up some other smell. I spent the last night at this location that I ever will unless I am reincarnated as some kind of insect. I do have proof and pictures of my stay experience.

Quiet and convenient Convenient location to food and other necessities. Breakfast was hot and area was quiet. Definitely will stay again.

Gross Sticky old paint on all furniture. Old property, renovation needed.

Very good stay but HVAC needs to improve Rooms were clean and comfortable. Looks like the room could use some minor repairs. Biggest complaint was the in wall heater/AC did not maintain the temperature well - it cycled between too hot then too cold. Shower water pressure in one room was low, but the other room was great. Breakfast was fantastic every morning, without exception! Staff was friendly and very helpful. Will stay again if we’re return to the area.

Service was poor, the toilet would not flush properly, bathtub was clogged and the refrigerator was broken. Very unhappy with my stay!!!!!
