La Heliconia & Day Spa

It started with a sad discussion regarding the price of the double-room. It was a pity that we stayed; when we noticed that the agreement from the day before wasn’t valid. A hotel in St George had help us an called the day before to the hotel. Earlier the same day we had visited the tourist office in St George and got “Pure Grenada” tourist guide with hotels and hotel-prices. When we arrived to Heliconia the lady in the reception told us that we have to pay the double price for the room. It was much more than the listed price in Pure Grenada. The lady insisted that this room was the last they had, but later the same day we heard that they still had rooms. We had booked an ordinary double room, but this was more like an apartment but the standard wasn’t so good. There were only two towels and no hair drier. The lamp at the bed was broken. The breakfast, which was called full, was served without juice even though juice was included. We asked the lady, why we didn’t get any juice and then we got one glass but not two. At the dinner it was the same nourish behaviour. The pool had slanted walls. The surface was made of concrete and the slightly sharp surface was uncomfortable to touch. I can give a plus for the two dogs we met at the pool, but perhaps they were guests. I can’t recommend this hotel because the attitude of the staff was too superior and nonchalant. We didn’t find the place pleasant and the surroundings were not so inspiring.

I'm used to going there alone and everytime I do I get my room booked and sorted out by the owner miss Debbie. She is a very kind and pleasing person. Upon all my areivals at this place she is the one to take me to my room. Breakfast on a mornings is amazing, whenever you live your room and go downstairs for breakfast if they tell you 10 mins best believe it's 10 mins cause when you reach back down it's ready to be served. Last time I stayed there I ended up reaching couple hours before check in and the one called to check in with me to make sure everything was ok. I will stay there whenever I need a get away. I have stayed many places in Grenada already hotel and guest house wise and trust me I highly recommend here. If I start talking about the self contained rooms and the pool etc I won't finish but you guys should try it it's very affordable and it 5 mins from the airport.

Stayed for one night. I found the staff to be kind and helpful. The room was clean, with air con and bed comfy, and hot and cold shower. Close to the airport but didn't hear a plane and had a good night's sleep. I stayed on the first floor facing the main road (avoid if your a light sleeper). I Enjoyed the breakfast. Will be returning so I would recommend.

I spent a weekend in La Heliconia and it was incredibly relaxing. Our room was modern, self-contained, spacious, and had a wonderful view. Breakfast on the following morning was tasty, filling, and very affordable. I plan on returning soon and I encourage others to visit and stay at La Heliconia as well.

We stayed overnight because it was close to the airport and ferry. Clean, friendly staff. Down side is it is located on the side of a hill. Which made it a challenge going up and down, but it worked. Food was good but took a very long time to get it. We preordered breakfast but it never appeared.

This is the WORST hotel I have stayed at in my entire life. So UNSANITARY. The pictures displayed are 100% deceiving. The room we stayed at was DISGUSTING. The second we walked in it reeked of sewage. There are bugs crawling in every corner, stains on the walls, even the shower curtain had stains all over it. I asked for a toilet paper roll after mine finished and they REFUSED to provide one. I Requested my room to be cleaned and sheets changed, we waited TWO DAYS and still NO ROOM SERVICE. This hotel then presented the other room they offer and it was like at a completely different hotel. It’s like they made an updated room or two JUST to take pictures of it for advertising. I am so disappointed. No accommodations whatsoever I would NOT RECOMMEND this hotel to my worst enemy. IF I CAN GIVE THIS PLACE ZERO STARS I WOULD.

My husband and I stayed for 19 days. The room itself was ok but definitely needed an upgrade. The curtain rod for the shower curtain was not drilled into the wall properly and kept falling off. The dish soap holder in the shower also was not drilled into the way, so everytime we tried to place a piece of soap or container on it, it would fall. We tried to close the curtain for the kitchen window and the rod fell down breaking a dish which we reported to a housekeep that morning. There was construction in the room next door for 10 out of the 19 days with loud drilling/hammering etc sometimes past 6 pm. The first night it happened the owner saw us and apologized for the noise but she never stated it would go on for so long. After the 10th day, my husband spoke with an employee at the front desk asking for a discount only on the days with all the construction and no one got back to us. On the morning we were to check out we checked again and they stated they needed to talk with the owner. We were never offered to move rooms away from the noise. We were only offered $114 off total when we paid $77 per night for 19 nights. One of the motion lights went out and I ended up falling down the stairs as I missed the last step. I let the owner and a worker know what happened and they didn't even ask if I was ok. They did immediately ask which light it was and fixed it the next day which was good. One of the days the pool was a green color (after raining, so this may have had an effect). There were several times we tried to go to the front desk to ask for something and no one was there. My husband and I stay yearly in Grenada and for quite a period of time. I'm disappointed in this hotel and the Owner and we will not be staying again. Would not recommend.
