Scandic Nidelven

Actually mostly a conference hotel, but the location, quality and service also make it a very good option for holiday trips, weekend trips, etc.Fantastic breakfast, nice and practical rooms, and a great location by the Nidelven River and a few meters from "Solsiden" with a large number of restaurants, bars, etc.

Positive: Good breakfast and friendly staff at the breakfast. Negative: This was the filthiest hotel I've ever been to. Room wasn't too clean overall and they saved money by not cleaning at all during my stay. They just once emptied the trash cans and brought new towels after I asked for it. At the first check the bed looked like clean to me. But at the fifth night at this room I suddenly got red itching bite marks in a row and all around my body at the short sleeping time (less than one hour). I opened the whole bed, took the bedsheet off and found a disgusting amount of blood stains, some dead bed bugs and some light-yellow eggs and bug shells in the middle of the mattress. I got a new room at the middle of the night but wasn't able to sleep anymore. It's been two days since I left and I'm itching like hell. I have taken strong hydrocortisone and cortisone creams by a doctor to my skin, now even strong prednisolon pills to kill this itching reaction at my skin. Hotel staff said at night that this (bed) looks bad but then later they denied all the pest and room was just fine... No any compensation offered about this awful nightmare experience and I have been a loyal Scandic Friend for years. I have evidence enough about the bugs. All my luggage were taken to freezing service with my own cost. Still afraid they will destroy and spread all over my house. :( I read the other stories at TripAdvisor now and looks like they don't truly appreciate their paying customers at all. Please read the other reviews ar TripAdvisor carefully and look at the pictures of these filthy rooms. Avoid this hotel or take your luggage to the freezer afterwards.

Stayed there six nights. Cleaning was poorest ever, it was an extra service "for saving water"... Or money? Never seen that before in any hotel! This was the filthiest hotel ever, and I got bitten at the last night and woke up. Itchy bite marks in a row all over my body just suddenly. Also many blood stains were found under the mattress, a few dead bugs and some light-yellow "seeds" at the middle of the bed. The mattress was the most disgusting thing ever. I changed the room at the middle of the night and couldn't sleep at all. The most horrible hotel experience ever and ruined my vacation totally! Breakfast crew was very nice and breakfast was good, but I can't recommend this hotel to anyone. If you go, check your bed ALL over. And freeze your luggage afterwards!
