Lovely hotel in a perfect location to see Trier. Pristine and cozy. Quintessential German breakfast in a pretty dining room. Enjoyed the stay so much! Less than five minutes walk to the heart of Trier and the Dom. Parking was easy but do book that ahead with the hotel.

Cute place, with a comfortable bed and very hospitable hosts! A welcome drink and top notch breakfast were provided with really excellent service. Room itself was on the small side and a bit dated, but we had everything we needed and the value can't be beat!

We were there with a group of women to explore Trier for a few days. The location of the hotel is great. But that was it. There is a terrace and a bar. We were not allowed to go onto the terrace because we would have made the floor dirty when we came back in. It was also not well maintained, even though it was May/June. Breakfast only starts at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 10:30 a.m. according to the hotel lady. However, breakfast was always cleared away at 10:00 a.m. After breakfast, you can no longer get coffee, even if you ask nicely. From then on, you can't sit anywhere in the hotel with a group. You couldn't use the advertised bar either. It was not manned due to a lack of staff. The rooms are small and functional, but the cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired in some places. Our group was repeatedly insulted by the hotel lady. Neighbors and various waiters in Trier confirm to us that it is unfortunately well known that the Astoria is not a good place to stay in Trier. It's a shame, but if you're looking for accommodation in Trier, you should stay somewhere else!

TERRIBLE!!! We had booked online and received an email that everything was fine. Apparently the reception closes at 9am, this was not mentioned. Not even in the confirmation email. We were in such a hurry that we finally arrived at 10:14pm. The woman did not answer at first (owner) but after a while I got an answer. She reported that all her guests were present. NOT SO! Eventually she admitted that we had a booking but she did not think we still needed help, our question where are we sleeping then? Her words literally: NOT MY PROBLEM. Very unfriendly, no hospitality and no information. I travel a lot, but I have never experienced this. Too crazy for words. After a long drive of 4 hours you were on the street at 10:15pm in a place where you do not know anything or anyone. REAL HORROR!!! Eventually we went looking and we found the Park Plaza Hotel, they helped us immediately and found it terrible how it went. We got a great room and top service! Don't go to Astoria, choose Plaza instead and you'll save yourself a sleepless night outside!

The hotel is a bit old as you can see in the pictures. The breakfast is a standard buffet. The bar is not manned due to a lack of staff. The big advantage is the central location (15 minutes walk to the main station) and the moderate price. Will come again on our next visit to Trier
