Long Bay Beach Resort

Beautiful resort. Not a comfortable chair anywhere. Lighting in room was poor so couldn't read at night. Friendly staff. This could have been a 5 star place for us but it missed in a couple of important areas for us. Shuttle to the beach wasn't a shuttle. it was call and wait. And wait.

The pictures are nice but onlu for the beach rooms. The rest are on the hillside up a steep mountain includong the pool. Your taking your life in your hands if you are on the hillside and have a beer at Johonny's bar. lastly the food is good but veru expensive. If the waiter suggest the mouse chocolate cake, it's good but $ 22.00 +15 % is OBSCENE

What a beautiful resort. I stayed in a ground floor suite for 3 nights. The room is beautifully decorated with direct access to the beach. Speaking of the beach, there are a lot of rocks in the water in front of the rooms so you have to go by the bar area (to your right when you’re facing the water) to get in the water there. It’s sandy on that side. It’s still a gorgeous beach with soft sand. The water was completely calm on my first day but had a bit of wave action the other days. Loved the swings in the bar area. I didn’t eat a lot (somehow not that hungry when the weather is hot) but what I had was very good. The staff was lovely, always helpful with a smile.

We spent four days at Long Bay and were thrilled at how this long time resort has fulfilled its destiny! Over the years, Long Bay has been a bit spotty but now it is a top-notch resort in a stunning location. The rooms are spacious and well equipped, outfitted with everything you need with ocean views. The restaurant is located beach side with delicious food and wine. The beach is one of the prettiest in the Caribbean. Smugglers Cove around the bend (an easy mile walk with a backpack, no car needed imo) is always a delight. Congratulations to the staff and management at Long Bay. What a beautiful and relaxing place for a vacation.

Beautiful location on the beach. Ground floor suits are very large and well appointed with a large patio (including a sofa, 2 chairs and table) & direct access to the beach with a palapa. Other rooms (villas) are on the hillside and would be hard to navigate because of the long steep climb up the hill to reach them. The beach is long & quiet with beautiful white sand, however, not very swimmable due to large coral and rock formations. The water is generally calm except for a couple of days when the waves were a bit stronger. There is no lobby on the property, just a hut with some staff in it. There doesn't seem to be any concierge to help with reservations and told us to use our cell phone to call the restaurants and even the spa on property. Most staff were very courteous and friendly. The main restaurant and sushi restaurant had good food but were a bit limited on food choices. We were unable to ear at the pool restaurant since no-one ever seemed to want to wait on you (bartender) and the tables were never set up for lunch. The menu looked interesting but it didn't seem to cater to the hotel guests (a shame). We wound up eating most lunches off-property. Most bartenders at the bar were friendly and efficient. The bar was reasonable stocked but ran out of our liquor mid-way through the week. The location is about an hour away from the airport over curvy and speed-bump filled roads. A car is necessary if you want to explore or eat at the off-property restaurants.

Great hospitable staff for the most part. Some waitresses could have a better attitude but overall, we are very pleased with the service and atmosphere.
