Issue with fly's coming in to the hotel ruined the first day & night for us. The reception staff told us it was something to do with their composting and it had not happened before. I killed 16 in our room and we experienced them in various locations around the hotel. We felt that they should have closed the bar / restaurant while they with the issue. Making money should not be more important than providing a balance with guest experience and service. We personally found the hotel to be lacking, especially at a Thousand pounds a night, compared to our experiences at various other high end hotels we have stayed at recently. Pros: Great location with lovely walks, nice open fires in the downstairs areas, large clean room with great view, nice enough breakfast. Impressive selection of Whisky brands in the bar. A small and quaint countryside hotel that has a sprawl of outbuildings used for further accommodation, bistro/bar etc with friendly staff and nice branded bathroom products. Cons: Apart from the fly problem which they seemed to have under control by our final day. Not enough good staff on hand and too many inexperienced youngsters. We only ate in 1887 once which was partially refunded after complaining about the above problem and we cancelled the second night choosing to eat out. Wine flight did not match our ok meal due to mix up. We had 5 cocktails from two different barmen during our stay, all very poor quality in our opinion. Music speaker from the restaurant below was right under our bed, not enough parking nearby and we had to drag our cases 100 yards to the door on arrival with a buggy driver sailing right past us in his empty cart. The same chocolate teacakes were placed in the room every day, no savory snacks. Bo & Muc Bistro was like a gastro bar and we found the decor to be questionable and the tables too close together. Also, the prices were too high for the dining experience on offer in our opinion. Love the highlands and had been wanting to go to the Torridon since seeing it on TV, but will try somewhere else next time.

We stayed for three nights in October. I think our room was upgraded as we had an incredible view of the loch through a large bay window and the room (number 3) was huge. The fresh flowers/chocolates on arrival were a lovely touch. But the best thing about this hotel is the staff - without exception they were friendly, helpful and confident in dealing with guests. In particular I would single out the lady who welcomed us, the two guys behind the whisky bar, and the young chap from Manchester who served us dinner twice and breakfast once. It was also great that they prepared a vegan/vegetarian tasting menu in their main restaurant for us, and the food was excellent. The hotel itself is a beautiful building in immaculate condition, and the 10k walk through their woods along the side of the loch is a great way to start the day. We absolutely loved our stay and will almost certainly be back regularly.

As a couple we wanted to stay at the Torrington and we were really looked after. From early arrival to departure two nights later nothing was too much trouble. Unfortunately I was quite poorly one night which was no reflection on the hotel but the staff were discreet, exemplary and caring. We loved the front of house staff, the whisky bar manager (oh my what a bar) - the views - the hunting lodge feel. One young lady (just finished Kent uni - sorry rubbish with names was delightful). The live fires are just so great in smells and crackles too. I think I have to add the bed was perhaps the hardest ever to climb out of - so comfortable and crisp. We enjoyed walks - the gardens and would recommend an out of season stay. We weren’t obvious to minor hicups during breakfast 2nd morning - but a gentle reminder fixed all and we certainly wasn’t going to let that dampen our love for the establishment. Already thinking how best to return from so far away - thank you team and owners you can be very proud. John & Victoria stayed 20th / 21st Oct

This is our fourth year of returning to The Torridon, the scenery is spectacular and the hikes on the properties doorstep are stupendous. There’s kayaking, wild swimming and to match the glory of the great outdoors there’s wonderful locally grown and sourced food served in beautifully designed and newly renovated gorgeous spaces. This family owned property attracts a World Class and global staff who are a delight to engage with and a pleasure to be looked after by. This is hospitality at its finest. Fires are lit, tastes of pine note gin proffered, every detail is taken care of expertly. One chef hails from India, so a really good curry is on the menu too, something to please and surprise everyone. Last night we had the chicken liver parfait, then the super local venison followed by the best whiskey trifle we’ve ever had… and trust me the bar is high on this one! I never remember to photograph wonderful food, it’s too good to dawdle with camera angles. I have taken some shots of the new decor so you can see how absolutely fabulous this place is. We’ve already booked to return again next year.

A beautiful hotel in a stunning location. We planned our trip around Scotland on a stay in the stables accommodation here. We were made to feel very welcome by the receptionist Camilla when we arrived and taken to our room which was spacious and the bed very comfortable. The breakfast was great, although the service a little bit disjointed. We had pre booked evening meals in the Bo &Muc as had been suggested. The food and beer were great and the atmosphere relaxed and informal. We hired Mountain Bikes from their Outdoor Centre to explore the estate and the surroundings, and relaxed in the sunshine in the peaceful Kitchen Garden seating by the fountain. We enjoyed drinks in the hotel bar with the huge range of choice, and found all the staff friendly and helpful. We were delighted with our experience at the Torridon and hope we might return again.

Location of hotel is stunning internal fixtures and fittings very good. The staff were very pleasant but found them to be almost robotic in their services. Food and beverage service was generally poor, and when making a complaint felt it was treated very dismissively, no apology forthcoming. Breakfast offering was not anything like the standard it should have been for the rates charged. Dinner service and food in the bistro was very disappointing.

is place! Scenic beauty. Epicurean food! Gracious service! It is one of the loveliest spots in the world. I want to give a shout out to Fadzai. She’s took care of us during our stay. She’s a lovely young lady from Zimbabwe. Another server from Czech Republic was also lovely but I didn’t get her name. The wait staff was engaging and took good care of us while we stayed here.
