This would not be my first choice of holiday stay but having been nagged by kids who are getting older and looking for new experiences, we compromised and chose to stay here for 4 nights before moving onto our villa. The location outside the main town was nice and quiet but there were still plenty of things to keep the kids and adults occupied. We had a junior suite which was excellent with big balcony and separate sleeping areas for a small family. Buffet food was good and did vary from day to day with nice clean dining areas and attentive staff. The only bit of advice is to not bother with online check-in. I did this rigmarole before we got there only to have to get the same info (passports) which I had left in the luggage in the boot of the car 10 minutes away. Otherwise would definitely recommend.

We loved our second stay at Occidental. Particularly our room this time, on the fourth floor with a huge balcony terrace with luxury beds and a sea view. Food is great and there’s plenty of it, simple and efficient restaurant access, beach is a stones throw and it’s really kid friendly for young families.

If you are placed in the main hotel and use the facilities in this area your holiday will be lovely. If you are towards the back of the village or in one of the playa buildings the holiday is 2 star holiday! Dirty floor around pool area, broken pool tiles, dirt broken beds. No entertainment and the majority is done around the main pool. Main pool - lovely well maintain area, pool opens at 9 however you have to queue and run for your beds. You then can’t leave them as the life guard will remove your towels, so Goodluck going for breakfast as a family if you want to keep your beds. I understand they don’t want you to keep beds reserved but towels were being removed after less than half an hour so it was hard to even nip back to your room as a family. Positive, my daughter loved the kids mini disco and the pool party. Will not return to this hotel unfortunately.

Hotel is amazing, the children loved it. The breakfast is not good, and location is not good. But we got by, we couldn’t fault anything we did in the hotel, and had a lovely week
