Can’t fault the quality of the rooms, beds, facilities, food or the staff! All of a high standard & presented with a smile Plenty of parking & attractive outdoor areas. The one ‘gripe’ was the noise when other guests returned via the ‘out of hours’ stairs.

There are some places you walk in to and the piano player stops playing and there are some places you walk in to and you just feel instantly relaxed. The Carpenter's Arms is firmly the latter. From the moment we walked in, Henry met us with a smile and was the consumate host for the whole evening. Another girl, who I'm afraid I don't remember her name, was equally professional, pleasant and helpful. The food was excellent, served by another very professional and personable fellow. The rooms are very good though we feel they are quite well used. Nevertheless they are well prepared. The choice of background music was excellent! All in all a great experience.

Strongly recommend. For me, this pub/hotel has everything. The room was clean, well-furnished, great shower, with very comfortable bed and pillows. It was quiet and peaceful at night. The interior and pub garden are charming, tasteful and homely. The staff are stand-out good. Warm, friendly, welcoming and professional. The food was to an excellent standard, with excellent service both at breakfast and dinner. I even liked both the choice of the music and the volume of the background music. Not so quiet that you can't hear it, but not loud enough to be in any way intrusive.

Needed a place for a couple of nights to be close to family in Tonbridge. As part of trip that had us staying at the purple chain in the other three stops, in this case there was no room in the inn. Carpenter’s Arms popped up on TA, high in ratings and still within budget.checked in just after 8 p.m. All very well handled by Holly who had been behind the bar at the time. Shown to our well appointed room. Double bed, tv (without the corporate splash screen and intact remote), shower over bath (with anti slip mat - thank you). Windows are able to be opened - again drawing comparisons. Complimentary tea and coffee, with an accompanying honesty snack tray were on offer. A decent hairdryer, iron, ironing board and luggage stand were found in a cupboard. Access to our room was either through the bar, or direct to the car park via an external staircase. We’d chose a b&b rate, and the menu was sufficient for us, both in quantity and variety and on offer until 11:00. We had an evening meal in the bar (too much cigarette smoke outside at the time). Menu again was varied, prices seemed to be in line with other establishments in the area. All meals consumed without complaint. Checkout another non-event, just handled promptly by Richard who had earlier tended to our breakfast needs. Will be at the top of our list if we happen to return to the area.

A warm friendly welcome from the staff and helpful efficient table service from Holly and Hannah. Delicious food and a great selection of pub favourites on the menu.

I fell ill just before arriving so was sadly unable to eat any food though the menu looked good. They kindly refunded my breakfast as I was still ill in the morning but the bed and bedding were absolutely the most comfortable I've experienced The decor is beautiful, lovely colours creating a relaxing ambience

This has been a ‘go to’ venue for my husband I for many years, but since being bought by a large pub chain the quality of the food and the cleanliness of the premises has gone severely downhill. We recently went for Sunday lunch and it was a complete & utter disaster. The roast pork looked like it had been boiled! No colour and no flavour, the chicken supreme was as tough as old boots and inedible. The vegetables were overcooked, bland, and the carrots cut in huge chunks. You eat initially with your eyes and this did not look good! The roast potatoes were hard and the gravy like water. All in all the presentation was just awful. We knew immediately after ordering that the food was not going to be good as it arrived within 5 minutes and was lukewarm. This used to be a vibrant and busy pub that served the best food and was value for money. It’s sadly an absolute no for us now after all these years and so sad, as the location and the staff who try so hard (apart from the Chef!) can only do what they can do! The only saving grace was that they did remove the chicken from the bill and the customer service from the most lovely Italian waiter.
