We have just completed our latest stay in Tokyo. This trip we stayed at the ICI Hotel Ueno Shin Okachimachi and wanted to share our review. The property is located right next to the Shin Okachimachi Metro Station (Oedo Line). You exit the station at Exit A2, when you reach the street, turn right and right again at the corner. the hotel is on your right, approximately 100m up the street. This proximity helps to make the hotel easy to get to, and even easier to get around when exploring Tokyo. With the property being so close to several metro lines, it acted as a great base to explore Tokyo from. When arriving at Narita Airport, we would recommend taking the Keisei Skyliner train into Keisei Ueno Station. We found ourselves utilizing the Tokyo metro and the JR train network (a sort walk from the hotel) quite often. I would recommend getting a rechargeable Scuica or Pasamo metro card to help take advantage of the very affordable metro system in Tokyo. These IC cards can also be used for additional day to day purchases, much like Hong Kong’s Octopus Card. The property, is well cared for and kept tidy with very professional and friendly staff. The rooms are a fair size, and well appointed. A very good value for your money in Tokyo. Overall, we were satisfied with our stay here and would recommend ICI Hotel Ueno Shin Okachimachi for those wishing a practical, affordable location to explore Tokyo from.

I had a great stay here and would give it 5 stars. The location is excellent—very close to multiple train stations, with plenty of chain and local restaurants nearby. Convenience stores were basically on every corner, and there was even a grocery store not too far away. Akihabara was just a 20-minute walk, which was really convenient. The staff were incredibly welcoming, including the maids we occasionally ran into. One of the front desk employees had even apologized to us that the room was slightly small. They were also very dog-friendly, which I appreciated. When we checked out, they helped load our luggage into the taxi without even being asked and had even offered earlier to call one for us since we had so much luggage. The hotel has a small café inside that seemed popular, though I didn’t get the chance to try it. I’m not sure if their breakfast service was as big as some other hotels in Japan, but it didn’t seem like a major focus here. The only small inconvenience was the laundry room—it was often occupied, but thankfully there was a coin laundry just down the block. The room itself was a typical Japanese hotel size, but smartly designed. The TV was mounted on the wall, leaving extra space for luggage, and I really liked the desk with shelving that gave more room to organize personal items. The bathroom was on the smaller side, but relatively spacious compared to others I’ve stayed in. Everything was clean, and I didn’t encounter any issues. The bed was very firm, but I actually found it super comfortable after walking thousands of steps each day. Overall, I would absolutely recommend this hotel and would 100% stay here again if I had the chance.
