Booking a hotel in Japan through Ctrip and being assigned a low-floor room or one with an elevator is commonplace. This time, however, it was even worse: I was given a room on a low floor right next to the elevator.
This low-floor room had a unique feature: both the interior and exterior windows were frosted glass. It was a strange design, and only by opening the windows could I see a sliver of the outdoors, which was quite depressing.
The hotel was near a business district, so it was supposed to be quite quiet. But I was surprised to find a small construction site downstairs, and work was already underway at 1 p.m. Don't construction workers in Japan have lunch breaks? I was amazed. See the video: even rooms facing away from the construction site were so noisy, and it would have been even louder if they faced the other side.
I immediately requested to cancel my second night after checking in, but only received a message the next day that my cancellation had been rejected. I gritted my teeth and stayed for another night.

A very satisfying stay.
The hotel is located in Ningyocho, which seems to be a work area. There's little traffic and people, making it very quiet both day and night, perfect for a relaxing break. Yet, it's not far from the action, with many small restaurants, convenience stores, and the subway station all within a 5-10 minute walk, making it very convenient.
The room, while small, is well-equipped with everything you need, including a bathtub, a small table, a small sofa, a nightstand, a refrigerator, a luggage rack, and more. It also has a window, making it very comfortable for a single person.
The best part is that the hotel is incredibly clean, making it a safe place to stay. Simply post a cleaning request sign outside your door before 11:00 AM, and the staff will come daily. If you don't, they'll leave a bag with new towels and other supplies hanging on your doorknob.
The staff are very friendly and understand you even with basic English. Everyone greets you with a friendly eye contact. I'm a bit shy, so I mostly just nodded in response. But I'm actually really grateful for them... One time, I bought pudding from the supermarket and forgot to bring a spoon. After I told the front desk, they gave me a disposable spoon, which really warmed my heart.
Every morning, the hotel offers a free breakfast on the first floor. It includes small breads (chocolate, apple, curry, cream, and other flavors), yogurt (strawberry, blueberry, white peach, kiwi, and more), and corn soup (savory). You can eat breakfast in the lobby or take it to your room!
Also, the coffee and juice machines on the first floor are available 24 hours a day, offering fruit and vegetable juices, soda, green tea, and other beverages. There are also coin-operated washing machines and dryers on the first floor, each with only one coin, but I never had to wait long, and most of the time the machines were unused. If you don't have coins, you can get change at the front desk.
If I ever visit Tokyo again, I'd love to stay here again.
