The hotel infrastructure was sleek but elegant. Most impressive was the fact that despite the hotel only opened a month ago, everything worked! Room is spacious, all relevant facilities are available. Rooms are quiet and blinds are dark. Staff was super friendly. Only area of improvement is the fact that there is no 24/7 room service. Room service stops at 10pm which is very early for a 5* hotel of this class.

The hotel just opened on 02 October, 2025, the location was good just 5 mins walk from Takanawa station, connected by JR Yamanote and Keihin Tohoku line. I stayed here for 2 nights and the service here was excellent, thank you Mr. Takamitsu and his excellent team.

With nightly rates around JPY 100,000–150,000 (approx. USD 700–1,000), one would expect refined service, attention to detail, and the warmth befitting the JW Marriott brand. Unfortunately, my recent stay fell far short of those expectations and seriously undermined my trust in the brand. Below, I have listed the issues exactly as they occurred, without exaggeration. 1. Room Assignment Delay and Poor Internal Communication Despite confirming twice that our room would be assigned on the opposite side of the train tracks, we were given a room directly facing the tracks. This mistake resulted in an unnecessary 30-minute delay, with the room check in process starting around 2:40 PM and not being completed until nearly 4:00 PM. It was also clear that the Executive Lounge check-in team was severely understaffed, causing slow responses and visible exhaustion. Such operational miscommunication is unacceptable for a hotel of this caliber. 2. Malfunctioning Humidifier and Disorganized Response The humidifier that had been installed upon request did not function properly. Three different staff members entered the room at separate times, giving conflicting instructions, and eventually replaced the device. Basic equipment functionality should be checked before installation — this incident only caused unnecessary fatigue to guests who came to rest. 3. Staff Entering Room deeply with Shoes On During the humidifier replacement process, multiple staff members entered the room wearing shoes, even though our shoes were clearly placed at the entrance. While I understand cultural differences, it was disappointing that no one paused to acknowledge or ask permission. Such a lack of situational awareness is below the expected service etiquette of the JW Marriott brand. 4. Photography Restriction and Perceived Discrimination ★★★ I attempted to take a simple photo in an empty fitness room and on the 28th floor, but was stopped and told it was a “public space.” Even the 28th-floor elevator lobby was off-limits. What was more frustrating was the inconsistency among staff explanations: one staff member said photography was prohibited only when others were present, while another said all photography was completely forbidden. Later, I received an official email from the hotel stating that all digital devices are banned from the pool and fitness areas, including selfies. However, in reality, I personally witnessed several Japanese guests and influencers freely taking photos and videos in the pool, spa entrance (28F), and fitness area. Some appeared to be doing so with staff awareness, while others were clearly taking private photos. If the hotel’s stance is that “those guests had pre-approval,” then that itself represents a lack of fairness and transparency. Such selective permission — never disclosed to other guests — creates a perception of unequal treatment and discrimination (perceived discrimination). Furthermore, no “No Photography” signage or prior notice was pres

A newly opened hotel located in Takanawa, Tokyo; it had been open for less than a month when I stayed there. Easy to reach, with both Metro and JR stations right downstairs from the hotel, and easy to get to/from the NRT airport as well. Nevertheless, the location is somewhat distant from many popular tourist attractions, and it’s in a business area, surrounded by commercial buildings. Hence, you need to arrange transportation to the travel spots if your primary purpose is travel, JW Marriott Tokyo more suitable as a business hotel instead of one that is easy for travelers. Nearly every staff member is friendly and always gives a warm welcome when I meet them, and the check-in process is smooth. I was assigned to wait at the Club Lounge due to my Bonvoy Titanium elite status while my room was being prepared. The lounge is pretty and offers a variety of meals, including breakfast, afternoon tea, evening cocktails, and nighttime desserts. Cool view with sea view, and where you can see the Rainbow Bridge connecting to Daiba. However, when I tried to return to the lounge for evening cocktails and found that the staff had forgotten to add lounge access to both of my key cards, I had to revisit and hand in my key card to the front office for another registration. There was a slight operational oversight, which stands out in the context of a luxury-positioning hotel. A significant issue affecting my stay was the noise from both the JR trains, which were located directly below the hotel . I guess Takanawa is a major station in Tokyo, because I found trains were nearly nonstop until midnight.  I was exhausted from traveling, and managed to sleep at 22:20; those noises really bothered me, especially the high-speed trains that did not stop at the station. Therefore, I asked the concierge for earbuds at 22:40, hoping to get through the noise. Unfortunately, I was informed that there are no earbuds available. I found it shocking that a hotel of this caliber does not provide earbuds for its guests. I can only try to fall asleep again despite the noises. Unfortunately, it’s getting noisier as midnight approaches, with only the sound of those trains left; I ask the concierge again since there is no alternative method to ignore the noise, and I’m really not able to sleep with that, conversation between 23:05 - 23:35, Finally, the staff inform me if I wish to move to the other side facing the Metro station, where should be more quiet, I wanted to try moving, but declined at that time because the train was ending operations after I finished packing my luggage. FINALLY, I sleep around 01:00 after the train ends. I quickly regretted my decision after waking up at 07:00 due to the noise of the trains once again. This hotel may not be a suitable option if you are sensitive to sound and require a restful night's sleep while traveling.
