Golden Bear Motel

Traveling back to North Carolina on my motorcycle…picked the Golden Bear based on reviews and other info online. Definitely the right choice! Room was nice and clean…plenty of hot water…coffee maker in the room with K-cups…and the owners are very nice. If you are coming through Tok…stay here. It will not disappoint!!

Great overnight stay. Big clean bed and a couch area. Agree with the other review that says it was the cleanest stay of the trip so far. Awesome staff. Very quiet. Will stay here again if travel back through Tok. It was refreshing to have a big flatscreen and crisp white sheets during our travels.

Just lovely, quite, clean, newly updated large rooms. Sofa, coffee table, refrigerator with separate freezer, microwave. Very comfortable. Close to town, but off the main road so no traffic noise. There is a guest laundry. We stayed in the 2 story building.

Owners are super nice and helpful. They are in the process of renovating an old motel and campground so not all the rooms are available, but the ones that are complete are very comfortable with lots of well spaced outlets for both 110v and electronics. Our room had an extra lavatory which was a very nice touch. This is the second time we are staying here in the past 2 weeks and would definitely stay here again.

The new owners are a wonderful young couple who really care about their customers. Part of the hotel has been remodeled and they have a small team helping update everything else. My pet friendly room was clean and equipped with everything I needed to include a Keurig style coffee pot, refer, microwave, etc. I have stayed in 5-star hotels and 1-star hotels and sometimes it's not about the "stuff" or updated rooms, it's about the staff and their desire to be sure you have the most comfortable stay possible. Tok was booked. I tried each hotel as I drove through town. The Golden Bear team could have charged me anything and after driving two days I would have paid it. However, they discounted my room as the only one left was a double and I only needed a single. This felt like home. I'm an older female, traveling alone with a large puppy and this felt safe. I was able to walk my puppy at midnight without concern. I hope to be able to secure a room on my return trip as I will be a yearly customer. Thank you, Golden Bear, in Tok Alaska.

The new owners have installed all new carpeting and painted the entire interior. The rooms are fresh and bright and smell clean. The owners are very attentive and working hard to upgrade this property. The internet is fast and the TV works great for live or streaming. I highly recommend this property to stay in this town.
