Spent one night during our trip to Cornwall. The staff was very friendly and helpful. This is an old building so don't expect to see a lot of new and wonderful features. The bar was well stocked and dinner in the restaurant was excellent. We would do this again.

Underwhelming reception area, more like a hostel. No greeting until we rang the bell. We booked two double rooms for three of us £180. Very disappointed with the size, small and the walls so thin we could hear every word people were saying, no exaggeration. Luckily we were top floor room 6 so didn't have anyone above. My daughter in room 3 did have people above so had a very restless night. Once again a hotel cramming too many rooms in for profit. Breakfast was ok, usual full English and cereal, toast. It's a quant building in a nice spot but the quaintness disappears upon entry.

Wee booked this hotel through buy a gift as we where give the vouchers as a present. We booked last July (2024) and everything was fine until we had travelled for 5 hours to get the the mill house inn. Once we got there all was fine spoke to one of the owners out side in the carpark and said we need to checkin and he informed us to go to reception and ring the bell and Jo we be able to help us. We wen in side rung the bell and Jo come round from the bar welcomed is and asked our names. We give our names and was then told there was a problem with our booking and the buy a gift voucher do not cover the cost of our for and they would need another £90 per night per room. We were staying for 2 nights with 2 rooms so £180 extra per room for the 2 nights. Obviously we question as to why we had not been informed before we arrived to the hotel. We was then told by Jo that she only found out that morning. I asked why we had not had a phone call in the morning when they found out about it all. Jo then changed the story and said she didn't find out until midday. We are now 3pm. I asked if there was a phone I could use to call buy a gift as there mobile phone reception was non existent. I was told there was only 1 phone and that she was waiting a call back from on of there booking partners. She said I could connect through there guests internet and try that way. I went and sat in the bar for almost 2 hours trying to sort it all out as I was not willing to pay anymore money. Cut a long story short I was informed by buy a gift that we are not to pay anymore money to the hotel as they had been payed. Jo come in to the bar and asked if I have had any joy. I showed her the messages from buy a gift and at that point her phone rung and Jo went elsewhere to take the call. About 15 minutes later Jo come out to us and said that on this occasion she is going to honour the vouchers. We got our keys and went to the rooms. We were staying in 2 of the superior rooms. Well this is where the store starts again. In mine and my wife's room there was mould on the walls in the bathroom and the bedroom there was a hole in the wall where the plaster had fallen out by the window the bed was broken and I think the mattress was from when the hotel opened. It was the worst bed I have ever slept in (tried). Moving on to the evening meal. We were asked if we wanted to book a table for our dinner and was told it's a porpoise night and that it's where the chefs come up with a menu to use up stock but we won't be disappointed. So we said yeah we're give it a go. We'll what a mistake that was me and my wife has tomato soup for starters and toad in the hole for mains and we're decided after that if we was having dessert. When the soup come out it was a tin of chopped tomatoes with some herbs chuck in it. The toad in the hole was a Yorkshire pudding from the Sunday night with 3 sausages put in the top and some veg from the day before I can honestly say the worst meal I've ever had we didn't e

Accommodation was lovely. Spacious bedroom and enormous bathroom with corner bath. Restaurant was light and airy. Breakfast and evening meals were plentiful, tasty and well presented. Bar area was friendly, comfortable and a good selection of beers available. Seating also outside on the sun terrace. This is a lovely 17th century converted mill. Very friendly establishment and felt at home. Beautiful location, ideally located for visiting the many local attractions.
