Stayed in the hotel for two nights. It was very quiet and close to the national park. If you don't want to get up at 4 a.m. to watch the sunrise, it is not recommended to stay here. It is very inconvenient.

The only hotel in Tikal with full time operating power plant. Ceiling fans (no hotels with AC in the park). Good value for the price, nice staff, next to the entrance to the park for great sunrise watching. You walk 40 min to get to the sunrise spot, amazing.

Great place to stay
In the park there are only 3 hotels to choose from. Jaguar inn is the most budget friendly. I was able to take my 2 children and spend very little. The restaurant serves excellent food, it’s clean, and friendly staff. The rooms are surrounded by nature where you will see wild turkeys, ant eaters, capibara and unique birds right outside your window. If you are used to higher end hotels, stay at the jungle lodge. There they have air conditioning, fancy restaurants, a pool and a more upscale environment, however, expect to spend a lot more money ! If you don’t mind a regular fan and no ac or pool you will save money and still have a good time.
This is I unrelated to the hotel but I wanted to warn you to do your homework when purchasing the park passes. It can be a confusing and is best to understand what you are purchasing prior to arrival.

If you can, visit the ruins mid-week. Avoid the weekend crowd. The hotel and restaurant are more than adequate considering the remote location. We stayed two nights so we could leisurely tour Tikal at night and during the day. While eating on the patio I saw a gorgeous gartered trogon, Parrots, turkey, collared aracari toucanet and various tanagers. The room was simple and the shower was warm. For budget and midrange travelers -- this is a good Inn. If you are fussy, stay at the other lodge (Hotel). We enjoyed star gazing in the parking lot (it is hard to find a wide open area in the jungle) and we only heard the howler monkeys briefly in the night. I thought they would be booming all night, but that was not the case.
