3-Star Hotels in Thurso

The only reason I stayed was because it was cheaper than a hotel in Orkney and would make a very long day after the four hour train from Inverness. However I was completely wowed by the room. It was very comfortable and modern and a good way to relax for one night after the long train and next day ferry. Very good buffet breakfast. Only suggestion would to arrange onwards transfer for guests to the ferry port the next morning which was about a 30 min walk. Walking distance from Thurso station and can easily explore all the sights in town such as the church ruins. Breakfast starts from 630am so you have time to get to the first morning ferry at 8.15am check in. This was actually much nicer then where I stayed in Stromness Orkney. This was exactly what I needed for a nights rest before onwards travel.

My wife & I had pre booked a table at the Strathy Inn prior to a long drive up from Skye. We arrived at 7.00pm and were greeted in a friendly manner by the owner Craig who showed us to a very pleasant table in the small bar area. There was a soothingly quiet atmosphere about the place with just a few other diners enjoying their meals. We ordered starters & main meals & whilst we waited we had a good chat with Craig who was very helpful, giving us directions to Strathy Beach & generally some info about the area, etc. We found him to be a polite & welcoming host which we've found is sometimes not always the case in out of the way, rural community pubs! We enjoyed our delicious starters & main courses of Steak Pie & the evening's special of Thai Green Curry, which I particularly enjoyed due to its flavour & authenticity. And I must mention the fine selection of local bottled beers on offer behind the bar, two of which I sampled & was glad of, being a bit of a real ale buff! All in all, the Strathy Inn was just what we needed to relax & unwind at the start of our visit to this beautiful part of Scotland. Highly recommended.

The hotel is everything you'd expect from a Premier Inn. The staff are polite, attentive and professional; the bare is reasonably stocked and pull a clean pint; the rooms are clean and exceedingly comfortable. From the title I should elaborate a little. The standard fayre was broken a little when after hoping in the shower soon after arrival and not checking the room first I discovered no towels in the room. I could of checked first and now its added to my travel routine. A fairly modern issue is the lack of a phone in the room to call reception and no notice of where to call (when wet and without a towel). Premier Inns support were excellent and routed me to the hotel reception for prompt support. Its a great hotel and the most economical in Caithness however hopefully towels are incuded on arrival next time 🙂

Excellent hotel with great food and staff! We stayed for 1 night whilst touring the NC500 on a motorbike and so glad we chose this place. Staff were very welcoming and efficient. Our room was comfortable, clean and had plenty of space for all our kit, the carpark even had a dedicated motorbike parking area. After dinner we made use of the small study/lounge area to relax with a drink. Very comfortable area which had plenty of books, board games and leaflets of the surrounding area to have a look through. Had a great nights rest and breakfast was superb, buffet style with plenty of choice. Highly recommended for all types of guests.
