We walked past here on several occasions when on our recent stay in Thurso and wish to convey the fact that it has the most spectacular views out over the sea to Orkney. There is a really great coastal path right there and one can enjoy the very best of Thurso's position from this location

Turned up with 2 Tents, We was charged £20 per couple for the intended night. We then proceeded to attempt to erect our Tents. However it was gale force winds and we were struggling and had to give in. We could see the employee who had took our money laughing as we’re trying to put the tents up. We went back to see him and he refused to refund us. Terrible Customer Service. Avoid this place.

Good location but average site. Restaurant not open due to staff shortages, grass needing cut and the place was a bit muddy so wouldn’t return. Toilet block ok but just that, check in was good but someone on pitch so had to end up moving, management should be better?

Disappointing. I stayed at the Thurso Bay Campsite for 11 nights from 26/08/2024 as was working in the area. I had booked a pitch for my tent, on arrival I was advised that I would need to pay extra due to the size of my van. I was then allocated a caravan/motorhome pitch. On 2 occasions I came back to the site after a long day at work, to find my pitch had been allocated to someone else. On 04/09/2024 I returned to the site to find my tent and items within were gone. After several attempts to contact the out of hours mobile number for the site, they called me back about 1 hour later. They then attended the site and checked the CCTV, which showed a male packing up the tent and carrying it in the direction of the static caravans. Police were contacted and attended, but the tent/items were not located. Whilst the fault lies with the person that stole the tent, the support offered from the campsite was minimal. They made no effort to further investigate the matter and showed little care and compassion for my situation. I was told by the owner of the campsite to claim from my own insurance. The campsite gave me £25 as a “goodwill gesture”, which doesn’t seem to soften the blow of my pitch being allocated to someone else on 2 occasions and that my tent and belongings were stolen from their site. Room for improvement in terms of site security and customer service.

We have been going for our holiday to Thurso Bay Hilidsys ever since the place has opened many years ago, We very much enjoy the views, the accommodation and having a chat with Tanya, the caravan owner who is very friendly, helpful and there to assist whenever is needed. Lots of places to visit in the area and explore. There is something for everyone.

Sunday night we were booked into a different campsite but couldn't get there on time of check in which we said we would arrive about 6pm, as being on holiday you can get sidetracked. We got an email of the campsite asking what time we will be arriving as they close at 8pm,, answered that we prob wouldn't get there till 9pm , so got told to ring him to discuss the matter, he told us,,,,, as I said we shut at 8pm and we would have to find an alternative arrangement,, so phoned up thurso campsite, and said we can pitch up anywhere and said they will message the codes for the toilet block and can use the hook up,, and said just to go into reception and pay in the morning,, 5 star service , thank you so much

I booked to stay one night and paid £10 deposit. We were unable to arrive at the cut off time of 7pm due to a very serious RTA. We phoned the campsite who failed to empathise and said that we could not stay if we arrived after 7pm. As a result we had to camp in a layby which was not ideal as my wife is very nervous. The campsite has not returned by deposit. It was a disappointing start to our summer holiday.

Not going to lie this frustrated me when they said they closed the check in at 7 and they refused to give us a refund since we weren’t going to make it in time to check in and we lost our money! I wouldn’t recommend if you don’t want to lose money and you know you’re going to get there late.
