Aloft Richmond West Short Pump

This hotel is not a good option despite being in a great location. The rooms feel more like college dorms than a modern hotel, and the air conditioning barely worked—it was just as hot inside as it was outside, making for a very uncomfortable night. There was also a musty odor throughout the room, possibly from water damage. I even noticed trash cans placed in the hallway, seemingly to catch dripping water from the ceiling, which was concerning. When we asked for a different room, the receptionist initially told us they were sold out. Only after requesting to speak with the manager were we suddenly offered another room. That second room was only slightly better, but at least tolerable. We originally planned to stay three nights, but due to the poor conditions, I checked out the very next morning. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this Aloft location. It needs significant updates and better attention to guest comfort and cleanliness.

1. The woman at the front desk is amazing. Management left her with two sports teams checking in late at night and bad news to deliver to all of them. She had no support. 2. We arrived with a family. We booked two queens. We were given one king bed and a noisy air mattress. 3. The person sleeping on the air mattress was given one sheet. The four overworked woman at the front desk had to run up and give us pillows and blankets. 4. We were on the 5th floor and the light from the hallway illuminate our room which isn't a big deal but when someone has to sleep on the floor it's right in their eyes. 5. There's only one overhead light in the whole place and no light in the bathroom so you're either going to the bathroom in the dark in the middle of the night or waking up the entire room. 6. The shower leaks into the bathroom.

Never will I ever again We booked 2 rooms through this site and when we arrived only 1 room (a handicap room ) was available. Once in the room, the phone was broken as well as the air conditioning! There was no one on site to help, therefore we were left with a broken fan (which we had to ask for).

So it seems that the construction at this hotel is mostly complete. I stayed here years and years ago (at least 10) and at that time it was very modern with a cool fountain in the lobby area. 10+ years later, For me, this stay was completely fine. Room was clean. The bed was comfy. We spent some time playing pool in the lobby. Had a couple of drinks and snacks from the bar (which the bar stays open until midnight which is nice). All the items were fairly priced and not super expensive like most hotels. For those not from the area, the location is convenient to walk to dining, shopping, etc. Oh and by far my favorite is the dry bar products in the bathroom! Literally booked another Aloft hotel for a future trip just because of that
