The Auberge

I booked the Bull Auberge for my husbands 80th birthday treat. We were not disappointed, every aspect of our stay was perfect. Food delicious, good choice of wines. Easy to reach Norwich by train from Diss. Nicely appointed bedroom and very attractive dining room

Just returned from a 1 night stay at this gem. A lovely warm welcome and shown to our room. Spotlessly clean with a comfy superking-size bed and a large walk-in shower. Despite being located close to the road, traffic noise was minimal and had a perfect night's sleep. We chose to eat in the on-site restaurant, and the whole experience was amazing! The food was beautifully presented and tasted as good as it looked! Service was faultless. Breakfast was equally as good with a choice of locally sourced items. We wouldn't hesitate to return next time we visit the area.

Lets break that down. First the hospitality : Both Jake and Katy will make you feel so comfortable you won't want to leave. Second the rooms: Luxurious with huge walk in showers and finally the Food: Well I had their tasting menu and it really lives up to its name; the fish dish was memorable and only just beaten by ( what the chef describes as his version of a chicken sandwich ) the main course all accompanied by a chilled Sancerre . To quote a famous person ... I'll be back .

A wonderful place to dine and stay. The bedrooms are spacious, beautifully furnished and the super king bed was very comfortable. We stayed with another couple and were pleased to have our own sitting area outside the bedrooms. Dinner was a delicious treat and Jake's knowledge of wines helped us select the perfect accompaniment. The bar and dining area are intimate but with lots of space between tables and this is where we had a superb breakfast. Although next to the A140 we hardly noticed the traffic. We spent the day at nearby Thornham Walks which is well worth a visit....cafe Forge is pretty good for coffee and scone. Jake and his wife are great hosts and made us feel very welcome. We highly recommend!

From the minute we walked in, to the minute we left we felt right at home. Jake, Katy and their team made sure our stay was special and the birthday was celebrated with a fantastic meal and superb wine. Jake’s knowledge of both food and drink was excellent and he recommended the best wine for our meal. There was a great selection for breakfast the next morning which set us up for the day ahead. A big thank you to Jake, Katy and the team for a fantastic stay, we will be back.

Nothing bad to say about this venue - service was impeccable and Jake was so knowledgeable and helpful throughout. Rooms spotless and comfortable and note was taken that I find stairs difficult so allocated on ground floor and close to all amenities. Food was amazing and different. Our first visit and we will definitely be back!
