Thornbury Lodge

Nine of us golfers stayed here on a Stay and Play basis. The accommodation is excellent, as is the club area itself. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. The golf course is a good test of golf and is ideal for a few days on a golfing trip. The greens were in great condition although some of the tees and fairways were suffering from the lack of rain. We would certainly return to Thornbury to play golf.

I stayed here whilst in the area for a business conference and was really impressed. Check-in was problematic, but the issue was how my company booked it and not with the hotel. Whilst it was bring resolved I was offered a complimentary drink, which was appreciated. The rooms are in a separate building to reception and the bar / restaurant which could be a bit of a faff if it was raining or you have mobility issues. Thornbury Lodge itself looks amazing and my room was equally plush. The only 'issue' I had with the room was the socket next to the bed didn't work...and I didn't notice until the morning to find my phone not charged. The restaurant is in the golf clubhouse which meant it was busy but it does close relatively early. The food was good but the menu isn't extensive. The views across the golf course was wonderful. Breakfast isn't included (my company should have notified me) but had plenty of options and was of a high quality. It's a bit isolated and with being focused on the golf club hotel guests do seem to be a sideline but I'd happily stay here again (on business) but not for pleasure as I'm not a golfer!

Stayed here a few times, food is hit or miss as they close early. This time was different, was checked into No 7, rushed over to get some food and got back to room by 7pm. Noticed some yellow lady-bug type insects around the tray with the kettle and cups, looked futhher and saw the whole wall around the window was swarming with them, they were flying around the room. It was really unplesant. Called tge numner on the paperwork- useless. Returned to the golf center and the barman said they were full, so what do you want me to do about it? I ended up driving home, which resulted in a 120 mile trip, as I needed to be in Bristol the next day. I was offered a refund on the room, but the wasted time and the expense of having to return home was completely ignored and dismissed by a very blaise attitude from the manager, as it was deemed "harmless ladybirds". This room should not have been made available as it did not meet health and safety standards. Avoid at all costs.

I attended a family wedding at Thornbury Golf Centre and the family made a block booking of rooms at the Lodge. As I am disabled I telephoned well in advance to make sure they had a room suitable for me. I was assured that Room 3 on the ground floor would accommodate my mobility scooter, had a walk in shower and would be kept for me. Nearer the date, when I rang to pay, I was again assured the room was set aside for me. When I arrived the room had been let the previous day to someone else and I was allocated a room on the second floor which I could not reach. No warning, no explanation, no apology. I sent a detailed letter of complaint. No reply. Be warned.

Booked here cos we were going to chepstow very friendly staff very helpful and rooms were really nice The house has been converted into rooms and done very well plus leaving the outside as original Bar and meals were ok and fairly priced considering its a golf club Ample car parking too Would stay here again if ever in Thornbury again

Bed comfortable. Shower door difficult to manoeuvre around. Check in limited times as staff Keane by 8pm. there is no food or drink served after 8pm in this place. Which was not good for us as we had travelled over 200 miles to get here. Check out 10 30am. Again not great after a long journey the night before and then having to find somewhere to eat and drink ! Woken up in morning by staff accessing a store room next to room. Not worth staying at if you are wanting a place to relax in of evening.
