This is a very old motel that is undergoing a big renovation. The grounds are shabby and there’s cigarette butts all over the broken concrete. The room was updated with newer furniture and vanity. The drain smell coming from the bathroom was disgusting. We were told that the smell would go away after the laundry was done at 6pm … but it didn’t. Staff came to check our complaint after second call and suggested we keep the plug in the bathtub drain. We were offered a room change but were assured that if we kept plug in tub that the smell would stop. Thought we’d try it instead of moving all our things but the plug didn’t hold water and every time it drained the smell came back. We decided to stay and sleep but keep the bathroom door closed with fan on. The bed was comfy … the food was good at the attached restaurant - great service. It had a recent makeover and looked and felt good. They were waiting on a new liquor licence so no drinks available. This was a stopover on a big trip and was dissapointed to pay so much for an inferior stay. Surprised that sandman would put their name on this. Maybe will be ok when it’s fully renovated.

This place is a dump! I can’t believe they have the sandman name! Avoid avoid avoid! Dirty, old and no amenities- not even the basic ones in the room like the shower or TV worked! Many other hotels within an hour that are much better. 1 star as it had a comfortable bed. I checked it for bed bugs before sleeping in it!

This hotel is in terrible shape. The air-conditioner has exposed fiberglass into the room for you to breath. The plugins for appliances is overwhelmed and a fire hazard. The dust on the windowsill, headboard and floor heater was visibly seen. Hair was found on the bathroom floor. The restaurant had been closed permanently for a fee days but no update to the website. After contacting Coorporate office in Vancouver we were allowed to leave without paying the room rate, which was appreciated. This hotel has been full for over 3 years while the oil pipeline was being installed. There is no excuse for its shape. This company was started with small hotels in small towns but they seem to have forgotten Blue River. Sandman, you can do better to support this business management.

Perfectly suitable place to stay for a night. Drove from Banff to Whistler so just needed somewhere to sleep. Room was basic but great size and warm, thermostat worked beautifully. Large, comfy bed and great shower. Had a microwave, coffee/tea etc hairdryer and ironing board. Reception did smell heavily like cigarette smoke but the room did not at all. We got a pizza and fries from the attached restaurant that were great.

The price wasn’t the same on the site as when we arrived. The phone doesn’t work. For paying over $200 for the night you would expect more than 6 channels on the tv, the phone would work and to top it off the shower/bath didn’t work , so no shower/bath the next morning . We told the front desk and they offered $20 refund …which we haven’t received. They said they didn’t know the faucet was broken but if so , how did house cleaner clean the bath ? Old worn out furniture, dirty hallways ,smelly. Don’t stay here unless you enjoy old smelly places and no shower !

Absolutely terrible, worse hotel ever stayed in. Very tired dated rooms, chipped walls and doors, carpet frayed and skirtings very grubby. TV only a couple of stations and all fuzzy, when mentioned to reception he said the hotel was old. Terrible air conditioning large noisy unit. the restaurant was a truck stop cafe, the hotel had many truckers staying which isn5 an issue but this is not a holiday stop over

This facility was described as “old” but it is also unclean and poorly cared for. The parking lot is part gravel and poorly patched. Paint on many surfaces is damaged. The door jamb is cracked. The door is dirty. The lamp looks unclean. The light on the ceiling has bugs that have not been cleaned out. There were remnants of a dog bone on the floor. The facility has a feeling of “decrepid”. Room pricing is high for the poor quality of the facility. Old buildings can be clean and well cared for, but this building has been abused. I will not return, and would recommend giving this hotel a “miss”.

Hôtel vétuste, les photos ne correspondent pas du tout aux chambres. Ne parlons pas du restaurant, il ne restait pratiquement rien de la carte et nous avons attendu des lustres avant d'être servi !!! Futurs voyageurs passez votre chemin
