Nalinam Homestay

The owner is very slick and I will stay away if I were you If you have a multi-day stay, pay only by the day even if he tries to intimidate you that your room will be taken by someone else. The accommodation was very nice. You have wi-fi in the room which is a plus. We arrived late at night and out passports were taken to make copies. As we were very tired , we did at that. time not notice my wife's passport was not returned. The next morning I had gone for a tour as my wife was very tired and she stayed back. I got an urgent. message that my passport was needed from them. Apparently they could not wait till I got back. The owner's wife asked my wife for my passport in case she had it . That was when she discovered that her own passport was missing. As she is a foreigner, she went frantic and emptied out all her possessions and frantically tried to call my brother to locate me as her phone could not connect. I went back and we both searched all our belongings thoroughly and we could not find it . Next I asked the homestay to please search the premises thoroughly again and they assured me they did search and could not find it . Nevertheless they were more interested in getting my passport back because their copy had anly partial information When he went to put my passport in the scanner, I found my wife's passport lying there. They really had not searched for it. My wife was totally enraged and wanted to move out and demanded a refund for the 3 days we had paid ahead of time. Not only did they not refund the money., the owner said he was going to call the police and tell them I slyly put my wife's passport in the scanner and tried to blame them. He also had his camera that would show that I had planted the passport but failed to show the evidence. He even had the temerity. to tell my wife that I was lying to her. We were both stunned beyond belief. The breakfast was nothing fancy. Puttu with some lentils and bananas. The appointments are excellent around the property, but as for me , the owner needs to be jailed for his threats against his customers. You may not have the same problem but watch out for him. My wife who is usually very suspicious was taken up by the couple . We have been to Kerala four times . She loves Kerala because of the people there. Now she distrusts everyone and that is so sad. The property is fine. Just stay away from the two faced owner who turned from a Dr. Jekyll to combination of Mr. Hyde and Frankenstein.

I was only here for one night and left for the airport early the next morning. The family is very nice, I got an unscheduled early breakfast and an Uber was organized for me. The room was clean and functional with air conditioning, there are fly screens on the windows, the mattresses are rather hard
